Cargo ships are so stupidly big that crew accommodations are a rounding error in the volume. Much bigger concerns are equipment breaking down in the middle of the ocean without anyone able to affect repairs.

I have no idea what CSS 1.0 looked like, but I suspect it was an entirely different world when he made that statement. At that time, the web was really just blobs of text with the most minimal formatting. Not the basis for trillion dollar c

That sounded unbelievable, but Wikipedia supports it[0]. Last US federal execution in 2003-03-18 was followed by 2020-07-14. The first person executed in 2020 had been on death row for 21 years. [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/

I was assuming that the author would have used a similarly old Python release. If not, then you are correct, and I got needlessly hung up on that.

I think this article could have been more compelling with a more recent Django project. Django 2.0 officially supported Python ends at 3.7. Python 3.7 is out of support. Still annoying it does not work seamlessly, but I have foolish hope th

Super appreciate your reverse calculation. The downstream 14% loss still is an easy enough fudge factor to use for a plausible output number.

So, the bottom line is that the simple kWh/day/m2 * panel efficiency * m2 of panels should be within the theoretical ballpark of generation, but the real world is a harsh mistress and will undercut you. On that calculator resource

Wondering if anyone could help shore up my understanding or point out a resource to get me a better handle on this. Using the solar maps from here[0], you can find the kWh/day/m2 for the US. If I am in a say 5.7 kWh/day/

Wheels of justice grind slowly and all that, but I was really hoping to see more formal government investigations by this point. Especially given the Russian hackers who had previously shutdown the trains.

Ooof. I really need to pick up another HD, these model sizes are killer. Lacking a godly GPU, I will probably hold off for a quanitized version which has the potential to run okish on CPU or my modest GPU, but really appreciate the info.

I think the llamafile[0] system works the best. Binary works on the command line or launches a mini webserver. Llamafile offers builds of Mixtral-8x7B-Instruct, so presumably they may package this one up as well (potentially a quantized for

Don't forget the Jupyter notebook ecosystem. Having a nice REPL environment where you can quickly iterate on code is a huge boon compared to a language which might have a slower feedback cycle. This is incredibly important in an enviro
