What I find most fascinating is that this is an .eth link. Starting to see them everywhere. Does anyone know why there’s a “.link” after “.eth”?

Anthropogenic Global Warming is great for plant life. The world is greening right now, and that's great for food production and lowering world poverty.

Thank god I don't even believe in runaway Anthropogenic Global Warming, otherwise I'd be worried.

yes we can. We live in a more northern environment, necessitating high CO2 emissions. Maybe not three times, but factor in the fact that Canadians are so distantly spread out adds more weight to the necessity of Canadians having higher CO2

I agree it's so easy not to see our own biases reflected in our own censorship actions. We all have blind spots, but censoring parts of a discussion simply because you don't like them isn't healthy.

Sad seeing the parent comment getting flagged. Censorship by flagging a very real problem on HN, but from what I can tell its mainly the users abusing it not the mod team who are generally well-balanced.

I'm immediately skeptical of anyone who describe their criticism of a study as a "takedown"

Not gonna lie, all this makes me want to move to El Salvador now. Strongly considering incorporating my SaaS there now but have to look further into it, but interest is definitely piqued.

I was debating between using ULID vs just using the same sequential bigint sharding strategy that Instagram uses[1][2]. I ended up deciding to use sharded bigints because it enables better indexing, even though there are drawbacks when firs

Are you suggesting that the scientific method is actually a popularity contest? Seems dubious.

We can theoretically do vacuum zeppelins, which is of course lighter than helium and unlimited tho it has its own problems too.

Grim. Medical autonomy is a basic human right. Once medical autonomy is taken away it’s not even a question of a slippery slope to a dystopian future, because you’re already in it.

If you're defining CO2 as pollution... then you are in fact polluting everywhere you go, because you're breathing.

Qualia is actually only a subset of consciousness, generally referring to the coarsest types of consciousness (i.e. that which is readily identifiable). But qualia is by no means the entirety of consciousness.

This reminds me that much of the talk around climate change can't be considered scientific because it's simply not falsifiable. If everything can be attributable to climate change, nothing can be.

Incredible work! Would Baserow be a good fit for using as database of subscription-based website? E.g. storing users, etc. You could have just static front-end and use Baserow as the database? I'll definitely be looking further into it
