Really? From where I'm standing LeCun is a pompous researcher who had early success in his career, and has been capitalizing on that ever since. Have you read any of his papers from the last 20 years? 90% of his citations are to his ow

I don't understand. Apple is being forced to disable E2EE due to UK legislation. This legislation does not just apply to Apple, so presumably any service you switch to (e.g. Proton was suggested in the article) will be subject to such

You brought up Europe, so I assumed you were making a legal argument. Right and wrong isn't dependent on the region you are in, imo. > In Germany all job postings explicitly say „(m/w/d)“ Great, and what is actually stop

So your argument is: people will get mad if we don't bequeath them employment. That's it? What if they get mad because their wages aren't living wages? What then? Why shouldn't they be owed living wages or owed non-awful

This sub-thread isn't really about what is legal (or illegal) in Europe or any other jurisdiction. It is about what is right. When it comes to legality and enforcement though, it does seem highly inconsistent to enforce something like

No, people as a whole are obviously not "owed" jobs. Why would you be owed a job?

Nobody is hiding anything. But the point about not being owed a job is that even if they were "hiding" something, that wouldn't be a problem. You are not owed visibility of a job in the same way you are not owed the job itsel

You are not owed either job. Getting a high-paying "boy job" is your own responsibility if you want one.

The onus needs to be on convincingly demonstrating the alleged systemic harm. Until then, "revealed preference" seems more appropriate.

Communism is literally when the government owns the means of production. Owning the means of distribution is not far from that at all.

The problem with the idea that it is the government's job to ensure "necessities" is that the list of what is a "necessity" only ever gets larger – it never shrinks.

The American people have agency and are responsible for the candidates they elect. But part of this process is candidates being nominated by the major parties, and the RNC put forward a candidate that people actually wanted to elect. The DN
