I wouldn't want Sonos even if they gave their products away for free. They like to stop supporting their devices and turn them into e-waste to force customers to buy their newer products. It's a speaker. It should play music until

They don't want to fix this for Ryzen 3000 desktop CPUs. I guess they're not getting money from me for at least 5 years. How is a compromised AMD CPU better than Intel's CPUs which get damaged due to oxidation and high voltag

I'm not part of that industry. My impression has always been that artists from big labels get most of the money. The not so popular ones are probably not getting that much since they likely get worse deals.

Do you sign in with a Microsoft account? If you do, that's probably the reason why you don't see ads in Windows 11. The system settings UI on Windows 11 always shows an ad which says that an account should be used to use office an

OCLP gives up on security when it modifies the OS to use drivers from an older OS. Machines which use OCLP don't get firmware updates to patch severe security vulnerabilities. It's fine if you just need to make use of some hardwar

I didn't meant to discuss how this should be done or not done, nor the merits of taking down this emulator's repo. I was mostly making a point that one can maliciously take down Gitlab projects and get the accounts of all the cont

Gitlab has just told the world that they disable the accounts of people who contribute to a repository which receives a DMCA. You just need to send a reasonably complete DMCA takedown request to get the accounts of the contributors blocked

This is the same company which puts ads all over the OS, can't stop trying to upsell people into using onedrive, forcefully signs you into onedrive, syncs your local files into their cloud without consent, tries really hard to not let

Do you want to open it up or make it possible to extend? I want to experiment with this, but not having the caching code and SSD handling code for the windows kernel doesn't help. There are no reliable and trustworthy alternatives. Hav

What you're doing is charge people as much as possible by not giving the option of perpetual licensing. That's what you're doing.

We've evaluated it and it was the best we could have bought. We've decided not to use it because they didn't provide perpetual licensing.

Oh, wait, Java 7 is no longer the one you need, you've got to use Java 8 because nobody uses 7 now. BAM, not so easy any more.

I would pay for your software, but only if it's actually open source to even be able to check that it's actually doing what you're claiming it does.

Your solution isn't open source. Why would anyone trust your software? How do I know it's not just a binary nginx with some extra performance tweaks? I'm sorry, but your product seems to be fake and doesn't seem trustwor

You are about to become a contractor with the same contract as an employee. You'll make less than everyone else on your team and your contract will put on your shoulders the same responsibility as it would on an employee.

Cool story. Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 have similar problems. Windows 7 becomes slow with huge uptime. Windows 8.1 has countless bugs.

No, they're right. Linux systems don't panic because of broken drivers after an update, they keep running properly. FreeBSD sometimes completely stops booting on your hardware or turns unstable for no good reason. (search on googl

I'm most certainly not, miss/mister. The point holds for 10.1. A bug in 10.1 will only be fixed in 10.2.

8-14 months between any significant update for the particular FreeBSD you're running is too much. Severe bugs get fixed only in a release, not in your patches. It's ok, we can agree to disagree.

I believe these are the major problems of FreeBSD: no minor releases to give users fixes from STABLE or HEAD, no packages for the base system to make update installation trivial, TCP and networking stacks lag behind those found in modern Li

Perhaps you could also take a quick look at my other reply regarding qlogic. My system is still crashing consistently with a fully updated 10.0. It's only a question of time before I find something which crashes 10.1.

nope. only sec patches are applied. Updates are infrequent. qlogic drivers had bugs in 10.0 which crash the system. Fully updated 10.0 is still affected.

This is why Ubuntu and other Linux distributions are still better. They actually get bugs fixed. I sometimes have to patch the sources with change sets from HEAD or STABLE to get bug fixes.
