I really like XChat Aqua ( http://xchataqua.sourceforge.net/ ). It's not really being maintained anymore, but don't let the low version number scare you. It has never crashed on me once. I like it because I was so used to XChat on Linux, it

Has anyone considered that maybe Eatlime was developing twitvid.com parallel to twitvid.io, and they just happened to launch a few days later? After all, it's not like the concept is particularly original. And, the name is a spinoff of Tw

HuddleChat wasn't a rip. It was a tech demo, demo'ing a very small set of general features. There's only so many ways you can build a simple chat app. A text box at the bottom and a list of users on the side? Must be a rip. / rolls eyes .

It's all real, and not too long ago I was making fun of a stranger on the Internet. He whois'd one of my domains and gave me a phone call. I guess it serves me right. Fun fact: here in Canada if you have fake whois info they can take your .

Yes, its verbosity is skewing the results. Same with PHP, C++, and Java. We can see that Ruby is the most popular language on Github here http://github.com/languages , with 28% of all projects being in Ruby. C, PHP, Java, and C++ rank 6%

What? How does this show zero respect for computer programmers? What it sounds like to me are very motivated people working very hard to get an education that they really value. I don't read any disrespect anywhere...

Thanks for the heads up on vox! It's definitely showing some promise. There is also http://cogx.org/ , but it's very buggy and there hasn't been an update on the site in over a year :(

Aaah! Audion... fond memories. I quite dislike iTunes and I'm sure many share this sentiment, I wish they had attempted to keep up and go head to head with iTunes instead of retiring the product. If, today, they brought it up to 2009 standa

I think it's a pretty pissy thing for al3x ( http://twitter.com/al3x/status/1786897274 ) to publicly denounce a controversial feature change like that... at least wait until the backlash is over! He needs to support his company's decisions,

Yeah, I know you discuss that the tradeoff is "worth it", but if you're writing CSS classes like that you lose a lot of the ability to redesign your site in the future without restructuring markup. The whole point of using CSS in the first

Anyone else underwhelmed by the keynote? I was hoping for some new material regarding Rails 3, but if you've been following the commits there should be no surprises. Except when he was alluded to mounting Django apps through Rails 3 ;)

Never ever ever ever __ever__ do a fixed amount for a project. You will get screwed. I've made this mistake twice in my life; both times at the end of the project it worked out to something crazy like $5/hr along with sour relationships

I'm pretty sure we've (or was it on reddit?) had this discussion before. Porn sites have to deal with extremely high traffic, must have great performance, have to constantly change to compete in a cutthroat industry, and you are working f

Absolutely. It also matters where you apply-- obviously everyone here would want to work in an environment where they value open source, and we actively seek those workplaces out.

Does anyone else consider this spam? Submitted by ossreleasefeed to ossreleasefeed.com, and is a question that could be very easily be asked as a self-referential submission here. There's no additional substance on the submitted site either

This should probably be retitled; after playing with it for a bit BrowserCMS is really nothing like Drupal, nor is it meant to be a Drupal clone. Instead, it's a powerful general-purpose CMS that will easily manage both static and dynamic c

Sensationalism. If you're looking for a faster Firefox look towards the 3.1 betas. If you're willing to use unstable software (alpha Chrome), there's no reason not to check out 3.1. The new Javascript engine is just as fast as Chrome's.

It's not even 3 browsers. It's IE6 and IE7 or IE8... depending on which one you have installed on your machine. Which you can test anyways. So really, it's a 250MB trial to test IE6. But not really test IE6. Just render images from IE

I think it's funny that we do all these things to increase our productivity, and then some people use a text editor that hangs on loading files :P. I would honest-to-god rather be using Notepad then Aptana. Being slow loading text files

I always update when the first RC comes out. I figure I can do my part and submit bug reports that way, but I've never actually run into any bugs. The RCs have been totally stable. Go figure.
