I feel like "not especially comfortable with computers" must come with a pretty big weak definition. I've tried TTS a few times and as someone who otherwise is very comfortable with both computers AND board games I found the

I think it also comes back to the nature of social media accounts and not just Facebook. There's essentially no reason you need to delete a hotmail account, you can just completely ignore it instead. That means you never have a devil&

I think the case here is songs that are legitimately on YT that they don't want people to download (and avoid ads, etc)

I don't know about this argument in general: it seems about the same as saying we shouldn't criticize people for drinking and driving because they should decide their own risk tolerance. Sure they're deciding the risk to them

I don't think it's that clear that paid traffic means illegitimate: you can pay for ads on Search and expect it to be human traffic that is interested for example.

If your company has your address in the wrong state (and withholds there) you can still correct it when you file your taxes for a full refund in the state you didn't actually reside. Though you'd maybe be penalized in the proper s

I see this argument about Grinder having data that is blackmail material, but it seems less clear to me that the TikTok data itself would be that interesting if it all became fully public. Though I say that as someone who has never used the

To be fair, it seems like a tough problem to solve generally: what is two variants of one product versus separate products is not well defined. Even if you only have two different colors of the same product, a review might apply regardless

Yeah, Skia itself has multiple backends, including CPU and GPU implementations. The wasm one must use the CPU path, where Skia in your browser can use a CPU or GPU path based on whatever is fastest. So already wasm is necessarily equal-or-s

This is a native dependency where that's compiling skia itself to wasm. The native dependency should be able to be faster by a wide margin by taking advantage of hardware acceleration but it's not obvious if it does (similarly ski

I think that's still reasonably within the intent of the law. Like, if you had a local eBay competitor you might have tens of thousands of sellers, and you'd certainly have a "relationship" with all of them, even if only

Something that I haven't seen discussed is why it wouldn't be a better solution would be for the code you listed to be a warnings or errors; get the user to write size_t then it is efficient without needing to go to UB. Another co

Even the best health insurance in the US generally leaves you paying a lot compared to any other developed nation. I had FAANG engineer health insurance, cracked my elbow. For the exam+x-ray+soft wrap the clinic billed the insurance like $1

I'd actually have assumed they expect these people to still be paid into their US bank accounts in USD (or your EU account in Euros or whatever), and not pay any income tax to Barbados regardless; effectively a year-long vacation visa,

I don't really understand the hypocrisy though. It seems consistent to suggest people should be able to run the software they choose on the hardware they own, without also forcing every store to sell every product. Put another way, in

That seems meaningfully different. The openness here is you own a piece of hardware, another company wants to sell you software to run on your hardware; can that two-party interaction complete without an adversarial third party being involv

Why do humans make media directed at other humans? There's some intrinsic and extrinsic motivation that makes it so, and those conditions aren't met by making media for dolphins. I understand the hypothetical dangers of an AGI wit

I don't think that's actually a fair explanation for why the game is so janky. Very simple animations that aren't loading new resources like Ysera Unleashed visibly badly lag even on the top end machines used for tournaments.

It seems like plausible fears could be raised for food riots in our lifetimes, but not really in weeks. There's not even widespread shortages and depression era soup kitchen lines today, and those would surely preceed food riots.

The US is going to be something close to 1 death per 1k total population with the policies we have. It doesn't make logical sense to think the number could be orders of magnitudes lower in the US if we didn't close businesses.
