The law accommodates for that - 50% of the assets for each in case of divorce. Guaranteed not to be fair for most particular cases, but puts an end to the discussion, and everybody knows the deal before marrying.

It is strange how people always associate domestic work with women, or something women are not compensated for. I know I do a lot of domestic work that my wife barely knows needs to be done, or assumes it's trivial, or assumes "

Brazil is going that way too. Currently only public servants and people with an expensive X.509 certificate get this pre-populated tax return, though.

It is not open-source. It is free and runs on the major 3 operating systems.

Sometimes it happens, and sometimes not. I lost my wallet 4 times in total, 3 in Brazil (which is $HOME), 1 in Germany. Got it back 3 out of 4 times. Guess where.

If I had deep pockets I'd actually work on this idea. One issue I find is the processing cost of such nanopayments. Cryptocoins didn't live up to the promise of enabling this use case :(

Had to free space with tmutils for XCode 11 as well. TBH it is a rather anemic machine (Air with 128GB SSD).

Tribal civilizations were like that? At some point humanity discovered that making parents "compete" who can raise their own kids the best, generated the best outcome overall. "A dog with two masters will starve." OTOH t

It depends. Some things are visibly awkward, unpleasant to learn and use, and clearly short-lived. It only pays to learn and work on them if you are paid a lot of money. My pet example from the 1990s is Win16, which I skipped entirely for W

Well this is not exactly new. An uncle that worked in IT tried to talk me off computing in 1988 because he felt it would be a secretary- or typewriter-like job in the near future. Others told me that computing was ok but only at hardware si

I had recently unpublished an app of mine expecting it would still be available for purchasers, didn't work. Had to resort to the outrageous price trick.

There is a legitimate reason for that. If you unpublish an app, existing users can't download it. The workaround is to put a high price so nobody will buy new copies.

Makes sense. I'm on a low-carb diet for almost 10 years, it was the only one that worked for me, as has worked for my dad (he follows it since he was 33, now he is 73 and strong as an ox). One side-effect of this diet is look for bette

I really liked ObjC, it made all sense to me as an OO language, unlike C++, to the point I didn't see much innovation in Swift at all, I felt it basically removed the C and [funny syntax] (my opinion about Swift mellowed since then).
