There are servers that are provisioned to do this for isp systems. Sure you are testing to some known set of servers but you cant expect max rate speed to the internet. It doesnt make any sense and an ISP shouldn't even be expected to.

Uptime of what? The ont? The border router? A random route to somewhere?

Our system can run random speed tests on segments of the fiber onts at various times and produce such reports.

But we have nothing to do with offnet speeds. I am fine with people looking at them but there isnt anything I can do to help them if they have bad speeds to random offnet networks.

I don't understand this attitude. If you don't like how someone mods their subreddit then why do you want to be part of it in the first place? You can make your own and run it how you please.

An easement that forever stops me from planting a tree or building a building is not simple ROW. It is a takeover of my property.

Eminent domain for a public use is one thing, stealing private land and giving it to a profit taking company just because you can is another.

They get paid a pittance compared to the value of what is provided.

Eminent domain for a public road is one thing. Forcibly taking land for a private company to make profits on is entirely different and not comparable. That is the part I object to the most.

They pay one time pennies for land and run billions of dollars of value across it. It is insulting.

That is exactly my point. Everyone gains massively except the poor guy who has to live with the problem. You don't see something terribly wrong with dumping your problems on random people just because they happen to live out of your si

Perhaps the reward isn't enough if it is that difficult to get permission. Landowners near me compete for cell tower leases because it is absolutely worth it. I suspect profit sharing on the electricity sold through the line would grea

Why shouldn't the property owners be paid for a profit taking enterprise to functionally steal their land? I understand that it has to be done to make the world work but it absolutely disproportionally effects rural people while the be

Not nearly enough of them especially in the tech sector. Look at all of the damage google did when buying youtube and facebook buying instagram. Competition and innovation are supposed to be good things.

Lets be real here. If someone took out an adjustable rate mortgage with the lowest rates in history then they likely have many issues beyond their house payment.

Hardly on its own. I would wager in a large part due to terrible government policies and their NIMBY enablers.

So that means we are in fact about to have a banking collapse with major inflation?

I think this is pretty common practice. I get a letter every single year to verify that I dont have any other insurance and they will stop processing claims until I do it. I typically just do the IVR and its only a couple of minutes.

I have been toying with the idea of buying used panels in bulk and doing the same, but the payoff just isnt there at the current battery price. What kind of frame did you install to mount the panels? I have tons of room for ground mount and

You still have to maintain the grid for others to buy it and to balance it. The maintenance costs of the grid are going no where but up. More usage, more right of way, more towers, more wire, more labor.

The cost of maintaining it doesn't. I have never read why the standards folks didn't make IPV6 a superset of IPV4 but my goodness I wish they had. I would have probably made the implementation harder at the time but it would have

That is the pain of IPv6. We can do everything perfectly as an ISP and still we have to support the old stuff indefinitely. It is maddening that the IPv6 fanboys leave out this step. At what point can we stop doing both?
