My bank called as they had red flagged a suspicious charge on on my credit card. The sum was $0. The bank rep told me that this often flies under the radar and doesn't show up in some records and it indeed did not show up in my transac

I think the only really sustainable car is the one that doesn't exist. Regardless whether your car is electric or ICU it's just a method of transportation that is wasteful of energy and resources and doesn't scale.

How exactly do you evaluate snippets in some environment even with REPL? I mean most code in a large system is part of a context that is required at the very least to generate the inputs for your functions. Can't imagine how you could

What if the failed allocation came from a different allocator/heap than from where the allocations for string logging came from? In general Don't assume anything about your global process state just because one allocator fails.

Yep wrangling the dependencies really becomes a tremendous pain at scale. Chromium for example does the same thing and they have enough engineering backing to be able to throw enough manpower into it so that that can get each and every sing

Whenever I used to type that name I'd always someone end up typing "sourceforget". I guess that name has finally become fitting.

Subclassing the Usertype is a wrong solution here anyway. In fact this is a classic OO trap. Whether a user is an admin or not is a role of the user. So a better class relationship is User has a Role. Role can be an interface class w

And what makes you think the widget can't give this information to the user of the library which would Then invoke the IME/whatever input system and give the result back to the widget in an platform independent input/characte

I agree with your point. In fact it's the approach I'm doing myself in my current UI lib (which has a very specific use case but the point still applies). https://github.com/ensisoft/gamestudio/blob/

Not sure if that's an apples to apples comparison. Generally speaking a widget library should be able to provide and interface for taking the keyboard input. It doesn't need to interface with the OS for this. The caller does and u

Why would a widget library need to deal with input stack directly? For portability it'd provide an API where the caller will dispatch abstract events such as mouse events and keyboard events and already translated character events.

If you're already healthy then don't worry about it? For the metabolically sick people the idea of "losing weight to get healthy" is sort of wrong. One must get healthy first and when health is regained through proper li

Yes in c/++ it also allows you to use const. const foo = bar ? 1 : 2; Without ternary you wouldn't be able to use const specifier on foo.
