On the contrary I think this design encourages a lot of different cultures to develop. Each instance had its own rules and etiquette, so the diversity of tone and topic across mastodon is greater than on twitter ime.

I don’t think that’s it. I used syntax highlighting for nearly 20 years then stopped a decade ago and don’t miss it at all. So I had every reason to want to use it but now I don’t even want it.

It was DEBUG.COM until MS-DOS 5.0, then it became an EXE. I remember finding it a very mysterious program as a young child, and it was only after I'd learned some programming that I started to realize what it was for. Computing was so

Traffic entering Google's network hits a bunch of front ends that route traffic to the relevenat back ends. I'd guess it's those application-level front ends that were having trouble, rather than anything network-level like B

In addition to what you say here, most of the ATC job is about maintaining order and safety, while for a pilot there are many other factors (and accidents happen when pilots get distracted by those other factors). The ATC is constantly thin

The absence of those features is a feature to me. I want a digital notebook not another damn computer.

As a fellow Australian, we must compel our government to change the laws so that the many large corporations that operate in this country, not just Google, pay an appropriate amount of tax.

I agree that it would have been better to design these a little differently. In the first case the go-import meta tag is totally unnecessary. The go tool and module proxy can discover git repos from an import path just fine. It’s only requi

How do you propose this problem be solved? I was partially responsible for the go-source meta tag thing in the first place. Is there some other mechanism to find a web-based view of the source of a git repo?

Why not? Our capacity for storage has been increasing exponentially such that yesterday’s data is basically of negligible size compared to what we are producing today. There’s no reason to delete history.

Google didn’t kill Usenet; it was already pretty much dead. Web forums had all but taken their place (and where are their archives now? So much is lost). If you look at the history, Google basically rescued the data from a collapsing Deja N

I recently got a mouthguard that sits on my bottom set of teeth and prevents me from closing my jaw entirely, which I wear while sleeping. It helps a lot. I wake up with my jaw muscles feeling loose rather than tight and tender.

The argument sounds nonsensical because it’s missing a verb. I don’t agree that just because people will use a free thing that means it has a lot of value. Note I didn’t say that FB has no value, just that it might not be as valuable as one
