I think the difference is that wearing a new suit and having a shaved face signals that one cares enough to make the effort to appear neat. Dying ones hear (with a natural color) however is a modification of one's appearance that one w

My older brother has a master in physics, I spent less than 6 years in any kind of formal education. We both work as software developers and I do think my education is as well rounded as his. So on these fronts I don't think it makes m

Hey not so fast, some of us who were 5 in '97 still managed to share in the "joy" of configuring X11. Gentoo and the endless learning opportunities it provides be blessed.

A lot of stuff is objective[1] but not everything is and there we can't really do better than "personal taste". A coherent vision by one person might rub me the wrong way but a design by committee will certainly do so. [1] in

IIRC at the time of the first video they had already worked on it for around a decade. Personally I'm hoping that just means they have enough stamina to see it through and not that they'll never finish.

There is still variable timing depending on whether the needed data happens to be in cache or not. Not sure how hard it is to code in such a way that it is predictable what data is gonna be in cache at which times.

I think Chile would be the first country for "first contact". Why? it's an elaborate pun in their alien language and the alien bureaucrat in charge of that decision really loves puns.

You plan the path on a high resolution map on the center console. When decision speed is a non issue this is a quite nice interface because you can double check the entire path before the wheels turn.

Sure more variability means stronger selection, but bigger mutations are less likely to be positive mutations so more selection events need to be spend to get them out of the gene pool again.
