Not sure why you are getting downvoted. Can someone show that a company that does not install wind turbines at your house can guarantee that you will be receiving power only produced by wind turbines? I could be misunderstanding something,

Texas resident here. If you have ever driven by a refinery of any type you will see where energy goes. The shear amount of energy to convert oil to usable gas/plastics/etc. is pretty crazy. Texas has the biggest oil refinery prese

Can you explain why the RISC-V needs to happen? I am not familiar with the chip industry, so I don't understand why the RISC-V will move computing forward and x86/ARM won't move it forward. Edit: Does it have to do with being

The concept of "fair" is driving so much policy in the world right now, but there is no one definition. The concept that no one can settle on a definition for, is the concept that is, and will increasingly be, at the forefront of

I don’t mind it. Personally I find that it gives an incredible amount of dollar cost averaging, since as little as $5 gets invested at a time. All transaction fees are included with the $1-$2 a month. Additionally it’s not a black box becau

I appreciate your comment. Can you clarify how Robinhood gets compensated for Payment for Order flow? Additionally why is it that they get a better rate than most retail brokerage houses with much more volume?

I'm pretty confident we are talking about the same thing. I was referring to market makers as the middle men because they are not the stock exchange. Call it whatever you want, but trading the spread is arbitrage, i.e. a price mismatch

Brokers are required to, yes. But Robinhood doesn’t submit orders directly to exchanges, it always passes through a middle man who has to collect some fee for their service.

TLDR; question answer: An HFT makes money because they see you want to buy 100 shares of Apple. Their servers are located in the exchanges, so they can buy the 100 shares of Apple for $99.99 each quickly, then flip them to you for $100 each

I was in your boat at the beginning of 2019. Went with Clojure, and it’s transformed my thinking. A good free starting book is Clojure for the Brave and True. Heard good stuff about Elixir and Rust as well.
