Perhaps, but by far the single greatest way to change health outcomes for an individual (not a society) is their own personal actions. We need both approaches.

Agree about books but I've found you can judge a restaurant by the font they choose outside for their name (!). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A couple grand a year for 12k people isn't nothing. If you expand it out to more of the C-suite, it gets even higher.

While it's probably not your point, I find it greatly heartening that these companies are sending such a strong message by leaving a big and valuable market. It doesn't really matter what their reason is... it could be: a) They v

Work on getting the contracts first. Then when you're ready, pivot. Then there's nothing to fear. If you can't / don't get contracts, nothing changed.

So they increase your lifespan probabilistically, but not in any terms you can measure. That said, the article's points about the costs of screening is valid and interesting. False negatives, false positives, time and money, those are

Yeah. I felt similarly about the importance of the kids when we lost a loved one. They kept us going. Life has phases, and this one will pass, and hopefully you will find the next phase to be better.

Amazing. Great work. Interesting and useful! Only feedback I guess would be that one-line replies, often with exclamation marks felt much more common than on HN. Still, v cool and probably hugely helpful for people with social anxiety, whi

Sort of. Ads as a business model exists because many people don't want to pay companies directly (through subscriptions etc). For the company to exist, they have to make money, so they sell people's attention. Unfortunately, we s

If you think about now, you're right. If you look forwards and can say that some percentage of these companies might be giants in the future, then it's worth paying attention to.

I don't think you're really hearing the feedback here. When someone says "you're being shady" the right answer isn't "we'll look into how we can be less shady." The right answer is "oh snap

Similar to why the flying experience can be so awful - consumers by airline tickets based largely on price. The airlines that lower costs (and experience) best win.

Mental stimulation is discussed here in the comments, and that makes sense, but I wonder if social connection could be a factor as well. Loneliness and disconnection with others seems correlated with all kinds of declines. If you can'

I think many servers/instances post what they're all about and how they're different, and that should help. We're seeing all kinds of sites springing up to help navigate this, and I think in time it'll be sorted out
