This is very cool if it's not the case of "lying with statistics". I hope we will at some point see independent research into these safety claims. I don't really think too highly of my own driving skills, so I also hope

At that price why not just get a full blown LIDAR from Unitree? I guess that wasn't available in 2020, but nowadays, why not?

Idk about running, but I love my Vibrams for walking even though they look ultra dorky and don't last very long. I do believe they improve foot health, primarily because more muscles are engaged in the foot as I walk.

Because it's the law of the land, and as such it needs to be enforced. And it is a good idea, too.

Robots will be doing that. There will also be a small workforce to repair the robots. The rest of us will have to learn to grow and preserve food. That is assuming the feudals leave us alone and don't exterminate us instead.

You can live off the land today with no help from robots. I know a couple of folks who had enough of corporate America and now live on a farm in Florida. It's been almost 10 years, they're doing all right. It's not even that

Interesting thing I discovered when researching H5N1 and poultry culling. It turns out that some countries (notably, China) vaccinate their birds, and most countries (notably USA) do not allow the import of vaccinated poultry. This is, appa

It is already the law of the land that Americans must take priority if they are qualified for the job. This is not enforced (primarily because businesses benefit for cheaper labor), but enforcement should be strengthened, IMO. And until it

Only 30% of F-35 fleet are "mission ready", software suite is full of bugs, and the airframe cracks if you use the cannon, but sure, it's just "moving the goal posts" and has nothing to do with anything. Let's

I feel like service revenue is going to be Apple's "oil curse". I get why they need it in the short to medium term, but in the long term it removes the fear of death that used to originate from having to release groundbreakin

Especially embarrassing when OpenAI's Advanced Voice can easily understand mixed-language contemporary slang on arbitrary topics, and even convincingly simulate it in the output. It can also do this at any volume, with "uhs"

Wouldn't that be just a function of there being _a ton_ of old Teslas out there? That number will go up over time - they sold 634K cars in the US in the last year alone, about a half of the overall EV market. Expect a lot of trade ins,

Has anyone even attempted to study whether that's the situation we're in? Or are we further destroying the low end of the labor market to make the rich even richer? The latter seems vastly more likely. Expensive, local labor, folk

How can there be mass layoffs and "worker shortages" at the same time? IMO we should suspend H1-B for the time being. Exceptional talent can still be brought in via O-1.

Did not know it was that expensive to run. I'm going to use it more in my Pro subscription now. I frankly do not notice a huge difference between o1 Pro and o3-mini-high - both fail on the fairly straightforward practical problems I gi

That's all wonderful, but we still had 107K people die of OD last year. In part because Biden let everyone in from Mexico.

That'll be $20K plus tax. Why, though? Even if you're paranoid about China, R1 is already hosted by multiple companies in the US, too.

I wish Apple just made a dumb watch with really good battery life (a week+) and health tracking. I don't really use any "smart" functions in my watch anyway, and I find notifications annoying.

Technically you can OD on tobacco, too. It's just that it never happens. So stats include all sorts of "tobacco deaths". Got emphysema? Tobacco death. Got lung cancer? Tobacco death. COPD or heart disease? You've guessed

It's actually not within the chip's package. It's soldered to the board. It's just regular, fairly high spec LPDDR5X IIRC, there are just a TON of memory channels.

Good luck finding it for less than $9K, and it has half the VRAM, and older chip. I predict MSRP of no less than $15K, with IRL prices above $20K.

Not entirely baseless - opioid ODs (a good chunk of them from fentanyl) kill 100K+ Americans every year. About time someone did something with that. Why Biden didn't do anything about it is a mystery - it's a slam dunk issue that&

It is impossible for Russia to "lose" in Serbia. The vast majority of Serbs support Russia, and are pissed at their government for not supporting it enough.
