And it is full of implicit stuff, cryptic templates, and the whole thing is pretty unintuitive. You also cant write plugins for it. Jekyll has i18n support I dont know what you are talking about.

I see these articles come up quite often yet it makes no sense to switch to hugo. I also tried it because I was fed up with Ruby (not Jekyll). It turns out that the tedium of implicit hell and cryptic templates which comes with hugo makes i

You hit the nail head on. I don't think it makes sense to write code like language X in language Y. If you try to do so you'll just get upset and quit.

I agree with most of this but each language is different and each language encourages different things. I think the most important thing to do as a software developer is to research the problem domain before writing a single line of code an

So is this supposed to be a good or a bad thing? I've used whiteboards in a lot of interviews to great effect. I wouldn't confuse whiteboards with riddles. I also hate riddles and puzzles because they check for the riddle-solving

This is very relative. If you compare it to Cobol, then yeah, it is good! If you compare it to Kotlin or Clojure? Not so much. See, everything depends on your viewpoint and your viewpoint depends on what you know. If you only know javascrip

You don't have to write Javascript though. I've built a stack for myself which is written in 100% Kotlin and I don't have to bother with JS.

There are zounds of languages which compile to javascript so it is definitely not the only option. With the advent of WASM this will likely get better so we can finally ditch this abomination.

Yep, the whole article looks like building a strawman against Python. This mentality of using "cool" frameworks and join the "cool" javascript kids (isn't that an oxymoron?) reeks of the hipsteresque mentality of t

I'd suggest using Kotlin then. It has tail call optimization, and nice functional programming constructs. It can also be compiled to javascript: http://the-cogitator.com/2018/04/25/going-beyond-android-ko
