Anecdote time: A long time ago I was put on a javascript project. It was a greenfield one but I had to use js because it was a browser app. I've also heard this Scheme myth but having worked with Common Lisp I thought that this must be

Me too! Another favorite just below that is this: > You feel insecure, a bit of a weakling. You’re a Belieber at a Meshuggah show and what you could really use is some street cred.

Maybe you should use Kotlin instead. It runs native on IoS, on the server, and on Android as well.

That's a very good idea. SO should introduce a tutor service where an user with the right tag badges can tutor juniors for a small fee. Win-win.

This is simply not true. I often ask on SO and I don't need more than 5 minutes to produce a good question. I've read the faq and the guidelines though...

There is already a review system in place. The problem is that there is almost no incentive to participate in it since you get no rep from it.

I see a lot of people complaining about SO because of duplicates, barriers, etc but it seems that none of those people actually read the article. You have to go through all these hoops because you can't force your way through this lear

You dont't need blockchain or databases for that. A single Kafka topic can do that.

What if they are not PBHs but particles produced by evaporated PBHs? Does this make sense at all? I'm not a physicist.

Maybe they use javascript instead of using a real language?

We don't need better builds for scala. We already have a better scala: Kotlin.

They still didn't manage to put together a usable language. Just try to import your `Foo` class into `Bar` and your `Bar` class into `Foo`. BOOM ! It will explode into your face. And this is just a basic thing which should work in a r

Am I the only one who thinks that using javascript is a terrible, horrible, no-go decision? He could have chosen Python which is also one of the top languages and it does not have the quirks of javascript. I can't help but feel that

True and true. Even better is that you have native Kotlin support for it and with the advent of Kotlin multiplatform projects now I can write apps using Kotlin only. I finally reached a point that I don't have to use Javascript anymore

This only makes sense if you work with different languages and/or a plugin architecture. I know that what you say is written in the books but in practice in 95% of the cases you will never write your new ser ice in language X and you w

This is a typical over-architecting issue you describe. - All the programs I work on are running on the JVM so I know how the trace looks like and how it is implemented so it is not leaky nor brittle -Tracing back what caused what is a pain

Yes. Pair programming works well if someone is being mentored or you are facing a very hard problem. In other cases it is a waste of time. You can read a lot of studies about this topic.

My thoughts exactly. I just __hate it__. I was super bored, super frustrated, and it was a complete waste of time. I resigned after a year of struggle.

No it __is not working fantastically well__. I speak from experience. There are also numerous studies (I can link to them) which detail why pair programming wastes time if not used for the right problem (mentoring or super-difficult task).
