I feel that there's definitely been a push with the release of Android 1.6 to change the buying behavior of Android phone users. Most noticeably, the Android market app will open to a list of paid apps, instead of a list of free apps.

The free version is merely a trial version that expires after a certain number of uses, prompting people to buy the full version. I'm not exactly sure if this is a better strategy than simply providing an unlimited license on the free versi

I'm not sure exactly how it works, and I know Google doesn't disclose any information on this either, but this is what I've experienced: Every time you update your app, you'll get put back on the "Just In" front page list, as long as 7 da

I've made about $200-$250/month on my Android app, but it looks to be on track of making $500 this month, possibly due to the launch of the Droid phone. Just did a post on this: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=938867

Dan had such a charm to him. He always had this mischievous twinkle in his eyes, and was so gregarious and affable. He was tall and the kind of guy in the room that everyone just gravitated towards, yet he wasn't the least bit intimidating.

The post makes no mention of investors being able to offer a green-card. Rather, only temporary status in the US for 1 year. Sure, most of the companies will fail and the founder's status would expire, but if you can get 1 Google founded in

This has got to be, in my opinion, my 2nd favorite PG essay, right after the 'How Not to Die' essay. So here in sum is how determination seems to work: it consists of willfulness balanced with discipline, aimed by ambition. The essay is p

Can someone explain to me how it is that club promoters work? Back when I was living in LA, I'd meet lots of people who would tell me they're a promoter for club X, but I never understood how they fit into the business model.

I can personally say that Joe Beninato is a great guy. He personally took time to meet with me at a Starbucks and gave some honest, valuable advice when we were looking for some funding early on with Picwing. Glad to see he's still doing th
