I think the key is the Volt was designed to be a great plug in hybrid from the start. The C-Max had an ICE only, standard hybrid, and plug-in hybrid version. Our plug-in literally had two separate high voltage batteries. Half the cargo b

I'd be curious what the output is of the f3probe tool used in the article. I assume you have a 128GB module with the missing bits used as reserve for when blocks fail. I'm fine with that if it's sold as a 124GB drive, not 12

My experience with WD spinning disks has been great. I've had two Sandisk SD cards fail which was a bummer but they both went into a read-only mode so I didn't lose any photos. I've switched to Samsung's high-endurance

My wife had a plug-in Ford C-Max Energi for a few years. We always plugged it in but it only did ~20 miles on pure EV so long term our mileage was around 40MPG. My Prius easily beats that and I'm not paying an extra $20 a month on my

I agree. I have a 2013 Prius C that cost me $20K brand new and gets 50mpg without even trying. My fuel expenses are negligible. The new 2023 Prius gets even better milage and has TWICE the horsepower (99 vs 196). Before the Prius I had a

I just watched the HBO Chernobyl miniseries (excellent, btw) and the parallels to the initial lack of action to a huge public health threat is chilling. If there is a carcinogen in the air, get people out of there!

I guess you could try running your games at 800p on your current system and see what it's like. I actually do a lot of gaming at 1280x800 on an old Macbook. I'm using Parsec to connect to an Optiplex with a 1050ti in the basemen

バッタ臭い / Battakusai / Stinks of butter was a derogatory term for foreigners in the past. Butter was unpopular with locals in Japan for a long time by what I've read, but I never thought the expression was being literal. Inte

I lived in rural Japan for two years as a single guy and it was very, very cheap. I was making ~30k USD and saved half of it without really trying. I didn't have a car, but you don't need one even in the countryside if you can bik

It's probably a silly thing to do, but if you can pickup a 4770K or Xeon 1281v3 for the price of a pizza I bet you could get a a bit more life out of your machine. More cache and hyperthreading always helps. I had a 1271v3 in my son&#
