I run a Poweredge T20 with a Xeon E3-1275Lv3. I snagged a 32GB kit of ECC ram from somebody's trashcan Mac Pro on eBay for a song and have a couple SSDs for OS and VMs. I use USB WD MyBook drives for storage and backups.
Right now the server, switch, drives etc is pulling 31 watts from the wall and it's so quiet you can't tell it's on. I'm sure it would keep running for hours off the cheap UPS I have it all on.
I had a second one as a desktop but the motherboard died last year. I'm not sure what I'll replace it with when the time comes. Probably one of those one liter PCs since I don't need internal 3.5" bays.
