Yeah, it may seem high, but at the same time a lot of the content is still content he created. In that context, I think the number is reasonable. We use it as a huge part of the our home schooling at the house.

That was not a bad thing. It was curated. Most of the crap never made it in the directory precisely because humans made decisions about what got in. If you wanted in the directory faster, you could pay a fee to get to the front of the queue

I am not aware of any "frameworks" for this. However, the bulk of your CSS can be classless. The really tricky part is grids. You will in all likelihood have to use classes for that.
