Strangely, a search for how many satellites are in orbit right now, returns those numbers: - 9,494 active satellites USA 2926 China 493 United Kingdom 450 So the 5k plus from Starlink are in this count yet?

And with much fewer measuring stations back then, e.g. ships, satellites and weather balloons. With different technologies and precision.

For people here still struggling with their bullying (past), I’d highly recommend Cognitive Behavior Therapy together with EMDR. The same professional applied both techniques in my case. It has worked wonders for me and the painful past is

Wow, this comment comes across as extremely nationalistic, sorry to say but to the point of being fascistic (and I’m not one for using this term lightly).

How did the future looked like for a kid living through 1929’s crisis? A world in between wars. Or living through the Cold War and the possibility of a nuclear extinction of humans? Despair and hope have always been cyclical and yet we alwa

Those urban characteristics are not found in Europe typically, and yet the problem seems to be global.

In the past we could stay online for long hours doing some few activities (chatting, playing games, browsing few sites). These days we can barely survive without a mobile phone always on, permeating every little interaction we have with the

To me, with the exception of maybe a few genres in electronic, music has never been so bland and boring as of the 2000’s. Decentralization has something to do with it, as people’s attention is heavily fragmented and mostly very few marketab

Counterpoint, I have healthy good friendships with women, and my wife doesn’t care. I also don’t cheat on her. Believe me, it can be done. Friendship with the opposite sex allows for a different perspective.

That’s cool! Before even seeing it, my feedback is to make sure no sexual/romance kind of encounters can take place via the app. All other people meetings apps seem to be sexually oriented.

I wonder why Sweden is seeing an increase in criminality. Better seal my lips if I want to keep an account on HN. Why I find interesting is how some topics are basically self-censored whilst we like to pretend we’re having a free discussion

I completely agree and it often baffles me the lack of nuance I see here on HN. “Reddit became crap”. No it didn’t. Maybe it’s less appealing and valuable than in the past, but it certainly still is a goldmine in more niche subreddits. Or s

I kind of like his ideas (I know the channel), but he’s heavily biased against cars. He’s the “everything could be done on a bike” type of guy. The reality is, cities are incredibly noisy due to cars, but also construction work, people shou

You comment sound like a “know-it-all”. We don’t know what these crafts are, where they are from and how they came here. A little humble attitude is more aligned with reality: there’s so much we don’t know.
