Exactly. We all sit around here and preach to the choir. I don't know that anyone really knows how or what to do here. How does a non-mainstream issue like this get into the public eye in such a way that anyone but our niche gives a crap?

You have a great idea/point. The problem is that as soon as you put the word "software" in front of the word "patent" during a discussion you can actually see eyes glaze over and brains shut off in the person you are talking to. It's just e

I don't know if this is why, but my sales are up about 10% today over compared to the last week's average, so I don't know how niche this really was but my guess is that emulation may have been curbing the gaming needs of many. Not sure t

I agree and disagree. There is a lot of information out there that is terribly hard for your common searcher to find still, and if that information can be extracted from government data farms and displayed and organized in such a way that i

But it's not as if Lodsys doesn't know this. I doubt they'll say "oh, my bad" and walk away now. They have a reason for sending these letters to small dev shops, knowing full well Google and Apple have licensed their patents, and we really

One can tell the difference between spam and non-spam on twitter. It's grossly obvious. We've probably all followed someone and found out a couple days later that they are just a robot spamming machine and un-followed. I checked out @swom

Altly? I hope that's not the final name. For those who's native language is not English, this would be a REALLY hard name to say. P.S. The Altly.com home page has a Facebook Like Us button. Eh?

I totally disagree about the content. I find it to be the absolute best small business / entrepreneur magazine out there. I prefer it over Inc and others by far. It opens your eyes beyond tech as it covers so much ground.

I JUST downloaded FF4 and now I see 5 is coming out. Version-less updates of browsers makes sense, and they should be seamlessly, silently, updated in the back-ground. This is getting crazy. I install Firefox for friends and family who I w

I'd consider his apps novelty apps, but I don't see why that's a problem. You can buy smiling rocks and fart scented candles in stores, and nobody cries fowl. Many apparently find his apps rather delightful, and though they aren't for eve

Yes. I would say email is the #1 headache by far. Going with Rackspace Cloud and their email solution is helping A LOT. I'm moving my biggest accounts over, and they seem much happier, and I get virtually no support requests from them any

I host a couple hundred sites on dedicated servers. Mostly local business sites. Hosting was hands down the dumbest move I ever made. I pay tons for servers, I'm fielding "I get too much spam" support requests several times weekly. Managi

Who is fighting to keep software patents as-is? Who are we up against? I have NEVER read anything in their favor. If we live in a society where the laws need to be changed, why are they just not changing? What horrors could actually com

This is what many have done on android too, but who ever leaves a comment on an app and comes back to look for a response? I think most who comment a question assumes the dev will be able to reply to them directly, not realizing it is anon

From what I've seen, it's very easy to do poorly, but not so easy to do well. One might say graphic design is easy because you are simply drawing colored shapes, yet many of us suck at this easy job.
