A refreshing in-depth, well-reasoned, article. And I think all the arguments hold up well today. I forgot I was reading something from 2011.

That's really unlikely. Valve's biggest competitor, threat, and pain point is Microsoft. Microsoft essentially tried to destroy PC gaming with Xbox and completely neglected games on PCs. (Microsoft has publicly admitted the latter

This is a terrible, link-bait comparison. IBM was powerful because it created a monopoly. Apple doesn't even hold the dominant marketshare in the products the sell (phones, computers). A more apt comparison would be IBM and Microsoft.

This is a great description of the lowest level problem. But for those wondering why iOS doesn't have the problem or why only 10ms is such a difference, the answer is that this is only the beginning of the problem of Android audio late

Hardware is decent. Better responsiveness on their lower end hardware than Android on better, more expensive hardware. Still find iPhone tighter. Development is not the pain/mess it is on Android. (See Android NDK for real pain.) Howev

My experience has been Android is about 4 times as hard as iOS. You might be able to reduce this by reducing the number of older OS versions you plan to support, and if you don't have performance sensitive content or content with high

One more thought on the "one currency" issue. At least in the US, legal tender (monopoly) laws punish anything used that isn't dollar based. You are required to accurately report capital gains you acquired from currency value

While your points are valid and I personally don't like the inefficiencies, the challenge is that credit card companies are good at hiding these details from consumers. 1) Rules are in place so merchants can't markup products when

This domain looks very specialized. For this domain which seems math centric and computationally expensive, I'm genuinely curious what pre-written libraries would be useful that would ultimately be a factor in language choice.
