I agree, but btw, if you sign in you can set your theme to MinervaNeue to get a mobile-like layout on regular pages.

Okay - Emory also requires students to receive or be exempted from 6 other kinds of immunizations [0]. There is nothing unique or interesting about this, except perhaps that they are being extra lenient and apparently only restricting Inter

The sub-rant about every app having its own browser really rang true for me. I never gave it much thought until now, but wow, what a horrible experience. Frequently I click a link to a private GitHub repo (404!) or a news article (paywall!)

Excited for 5G to become commonplace so behavior like this can never be disabled.

I really wish that Apple was able to find some resolution to the macOS/GPLv3 problem. As developers, of course we all use Homebrew or MacPorts and whatnot, but there's no way that the increasing divergence from the standard Linux

Yes. I try to opt for non-SSO login whenever possible, or alternatively manually make a dummy 1Password entry with a username like “GitHub login”. I would like if 1Password could track OAuth redirects automatically but I’m not sure if it’s

Fn-delete, yes. Honestly I find this nicer than using a separate key (which also exists on the larger Apple keyboards with numpads), but to each their own.

This is a nice feature, but I do wish that .git-blame-ignore-revs was automatically applied, similarly to .gitignore and .gitattributes. Hopefully there are plans to do so in a future Git release?

The best is when you try to pause your music on the computer before picking up your phone. Nope, while ringing this either does nothing (for phone calls) or picks up the call on the computer (FaceTime).

Sure, for example I usually use Cobra. But what I meant was that people often mention Go as being explicitly preferable to Rust for CLIs, and I’m not sure why if I have to pull in a dependency in either case.

Yes, despite how Reddit has gotten worse over the years, it will be a huge loss for the web once it finally fully jumps the shark. Already it’s pretty much the last place to find real human opinions in a sea of content marketing garbage.

I often see people recommend Go for CLI apps but I'm not sure why. The built-in `flag` package is really limiting. These days I mostly use Rust with `clap` which is the nicest flag-parsing experience I've found so far in any langu

I'm quite interested in Caddy. The last time I checked, things were in a rough spot with the v2 transition, but it looks like the documentation has improved.

There are hacky ways around it, though. The method here is something I've used: https://tenzer.dk/nginx-with-dynamic-upstreams/

Installed this and it's great. That said, it's embarrassing how many iOS extensions I have installed just to work around today's shitty websites. AdGuard to make the web usable, AMPlosion to avoid AMP nonsense, Open in Apollo

No, please don't. I don't want to make a separate account for a random forum, and I especially don't want to use Discourse. Just use GitHub Issues and Discussions, please - it's so much simpler for everyone.

I don't see Face ID ever fully going away, even if Touch ID returns as an option. The depth-sensing camera is used for other purposes, too, like Animojis.

Oh, nice! Thanks for pointing that out. Seems a little strange they didn't use that in the marketing shots to show off the extra screen real estate.

Yeah, when writing type inference is obviously nice, but it can be annoying to try to go back and read. I think the best experience is having a language server annotate the inferred types (like how rust-analyzer does it.) But even then, it

I think the move back to an older design language is purposeful, to remind people of the "good old days" before the 2016 design.

It seems to me that almost no one understands the difference between the various layers of "Docker" (that is to say: Desktop, CLI, daemon, containerd, runc) and which layers tools like Podman aim to replace.
