This has downvotes currently for some reason, but it's true and I do the same thing for subscriptions whenever possible. There's one-click unsubscribe for any service purchased through Apple, it's really nice.

Kindles have an option to turn on a time estimate for progress through a book which sort of simulates this, but I don't really like it (the constant changing/recalculation is anxiety-inducing). Really wish they had an option for a

I've found that e-readers are perfect for novels or nonfiction books meant to be read linearly from beginning to end. I don't buy paperbacks anymore because the experience is superior (lighter weight, backlight, word definitions).

Thrilled to see an updated version of this, and especially with Demaine still involved. The 2011 Devadas/Demaine videos had a huge impact on me when getting into the field. I would say they might be the single best resource available f

Perhaps a better question to ask would be "why is any process allowed to do this by default in 2021?"

Apple Notes is my go-to for “almost plain text.” It’s simple, instantly syncs across phone/desktop, and I can throw in bulleted lists, photos, PDFs, or whatever else if needed. I have meeting notes, to-do lists, journal entries, and go

Yeah, Sidecar is pretty cool. I was surprised to learn that even pressure-sensitivity from the Apple Pencil worked (at least in Blender where I tried it out.) It'd be nice if you could initiate it from the iPad side, though. There used

Just gave the new (I guess formerly 1Password X?) extension a try and it does seem to handle saving and updating new accounts much better. Props for that, and maybe something to try for anyone else still using the old native app extension.

I wouldn't say the product is a dumpster fire, but core workflows are a mess. This is how you generate and save a password for a new site: 1) Extension button > Generate Password > Save & Copy 2) After creating account, exten

I don't believe for a second that Google's algorithms are unable to identify and remove content marketing blogspam from the results. It must be profitable somehow for the majority of search results to be utterly useless.

I mean, there are definitely places where hard wrapping makes sense or is the only option. I’m not saying it’s never the right thing to do, just that with emails or full-Markdown docs specifically it tends to restrict the ability to render

In the general case, I agree (with the first part of your comment.) But Linus makes a valid case for wrapping at the time of text entry instead of display: they want to wrap to 72 characters except in certain, specific cases, like when you

This was an interesting comment thread, and honestly you have to hand it to Linus for continuing to respond and expand on his viewpoints in a pretty level-headed way. Also, I was reading through it on a phone, which brought to light an inte

This sort of behavior is a natural result of the VC funding model. Companies are forced to either explode in popularity by any means necessary or fail fast. Stable, linear growth via word-of-mouth is impossible.
