Raindrop looked so cool. It's a shame they stopped working on it.

Not really. Leninist ideals went out the window when Stalin took over. The results you're citing aren't due to Leninism, but Stalinism.

You misunderstand me, I like git, but there are lots of people who don't like it, and would much rather be able to do everything with their mouse.

Maybe. But you can't make directories that you don't talk about on a public repo, because anyone could go and look at those.

Maybe other people aren't. Maybe they want a more graphical interface. And, I have no idea, but can you use Github Pages with a private repo? Again, I don't know, but if you can't, this doesn't publish the source publicl

But, Dropplets doesn't have a built in post editor, and requires that your posts contain lots of required metadata, and in a really arbitrary order.

Not exactly. There aren't pages, and posts are written in your text editor, and the files are "dropped" into the admin section.

They work on completely different concepts: Jekyll requires you to generate your site. Dropplets generates pages on each request. Jekyll runs on your machine, and is written in Ruby. Dropplets runs on your server, and is written in PHP. Jek

There isn't any caching. But, everything other than the index page can be generated fairly quickly, because you're not making database calls, only file system calls. The index page could take a little longer. Regardless, it's

I started playing with Anchor last week. I like it thus far, because it really focuses on blogging, something WordPress kinda deemphasized two years ago. Plus, it's pretty. Which is always a nice bonus. ---- If you're not averse t

Having tried it out before, I found the format used for blog posts to be incredibly arbitrary. It requires your twitter username for every post, and a bunch of other things. Plus, instead of using key/value pairings with yaml or someth

This article wasn't solely a response to that one post, but to the general feeling perpetuated by HN. There are a good deal of other posts that show up on HN where someone misattributes boredom to burnout.

That's exactly the conclusion I came to. Which is a shame, because there was a point where WordPress basically did just what I wanted to, and put the emphasis on those things. Now it's a full blown CMS, which I don't want or

I used WordPress for a while, but switched to a host of static site generators about two years ago. One of the big reasons I switched was because WordPress was so huge, and unnecessarily so. Their big overhaul of the wp-admin section, in 2.
