Not quite what I remember. XMLHttpRequest was invented by Microsoft and used in a outlook webaccess. This was only possible in IE6. But Ajax is merely a pattern that was enabled by the ‘dynamic html’ that was made possible by having a DOM

It's interesting how the text editor, the keyboard and the OS all come together to contribute to the typing latency. Whilst this is obvious to say, it it is interesting to see the meansurements presented in the article.

Another great deep dive into latency of typing is this one [1] which considers input latency from the keyboard, the keyboard interface, the editor/IDE, and even the window manager. Pavel found that Windoes Aero added 16.6ms extra laten

I think GP didn’t provide citations as it’s a fairly well known and un-controversial opinion. If this idea was new to you then maybe have a look at these sources, or do some other searches https://www.health.harvard.edu/stay

Here is a very brief and basic introduction to numerical simulation: Simulation of dynamic systems is a big deep area. In general you use what is called numerical simulation where you have a model describing your system, in the form of a pa

Cloud flare made a blog post about this. I tried to find it but I couldn’t. The general idea was that in a post GDPR world as more and more countries put legal limits on the movement of data about their citizens, it gets harder and harder t

Maybe you are thinking of JWE? If the signing of the JWT wasn’t deterministic, then it would be hard to verify.

You only need a cryptographically secure RNG to generate a key pair. Assuming asymetric keys. That private key can then be used to sign many many JWTS. Whereas generating new session ids will always need fresh entropy.

I did some testing on 35.214.66.222, it says this could be an attacker because it's on the wikimedia blocklist. But it's on the wikimedia blocklist because it's an IP block owned by google, and wikimedia doesn't want go

In my current app, we use cloudfront to serve browser requests. So it’s cloudfront that talks to S3 and deals with authentication, buckets etc. The requests from the web browser don’t know about the bucket. S3 is designed for API access, no

It won because it was the first, but also because it’s API was designed to be cloned. Being cloned was a success criteria for the the S3 team. I read that somewhere recently. I don’t have a source to hand. Personally I this the API is ok, b

In what way do you think it’s over complicated? Genuinely interested. Not sure about Minio, but most S3 clones don’t clone all API operations, just the ones they and their customers/users need.

Scaling to zero means zero cost when there is zero work. If you have a buffer pool, how long do you keep it populated when you have no work? Maintaining a buffer pool is hard. You need to maintain state, have a prediction function, track us

It’s an HTTP proxy. Two layers of proxy. I was just assuming that paying iCloud users might be less likely to launch bot attacks. But on reflection I guess that is just bias.

If you wanted to send spam, or run an attack, you’d want to run your traffico via tor or a vpn to hide your home or office IP. Not sure why iCloud relay would be a problem.

I get this question sometimes from a developer new to my team asking if it’s ok to add OOP code since most of the existing code is just functions. My view on that is that it’s ok to use OOP and define classes if you are really defining an O
