If API's are best represented via REST, then why aren't software API's in general RESTful (e.g. I dont POST triangles to my GPU)? The answer: SOME API's are best represented with REST, but most are not.

Is this device optimized for forward passes or backward passes or both? It seems to me that Google engineers could use Tesla's or other high end GPU's for training and development, but then deploy those models on hardware optimize

(first, I should say I didn't read the article... I know, I know)... BUT, something about this reminds me of simulated annealing. Just throwing that out there.

Sometimes you build your own X not because you can build a better X in general, but because you can build a better X for you specifically. Whether you should build your own X is largely a function of how core X is to your business. If X isn

They have some interesting, cool tech. It may not be miniaturizable (or it may be, dunno). But the hype about them is way too big. They have essentially put themselves in very tough spot.

Personally speaking, enough of my side projects never made a dime that I decided a while back to wait until I made $1 before incorporation. This has saved me quite a bit of hassle.

This video is a great introduction to convolutions and pooling. The other best resource, IMHO, is http://karpathy.github.io/neuralnets/ .

My favorite gdb feature? write watches. Set a write watch on a variable (even by address) and get a break point when the variable is written to. Read watches work the same way but break when a thread reads the variable.

imho it's about references (pointers) and the inability of the memory prefetcher to optimize memory accesses. to fix this languages need true value types.
