Reading that DNS spec and all I have to say is that I fucking hope I retire before I have to learn this bullshit.

I'll take that bet. I think we're going to find the opposite in a few years.

That's simply not true. I have WordPress sites I haven't touched in years and they all run auto updates. Sure I guess it's technically avoiding rot by updating but the fact I don't need to touch it makes the point moot.

> Implying these kinds of deprecations are commonplace, rather than 2 in 30-40 years, is a little odd. Large parts of the web are powered by npm. The vast majority of those sites, if not actively developed, will not be able to build with

Considering there is only really three platforms I think it's a pretty fair assumption.. and we're talking about git here, you can assume cross platform includes Linux.

Density and freezing outside in could have a pressurising effect too. I'd be curious to know if the defect remains while stirring until frozen.

At least 50% of show HN posts are just HN clones with mobile friendly upvote buttons.

Authentication systems are the most common thing to have security related bugs? I'm shocked. FWIW, the majority of things on that list aren't what I'd consider covered by any auth library I know of. It's mostly people ju

You can use it as a standalone backend or you can just use it as a router / renderer "web backend" but then still have an API off somewhere else. That API could be a monolith, a bunch of microservices, power multiple front en

Anecdotally I've been watching C# gain a lot of ground as a backend for nextjs frontends.

Yea but you only need all that junk because you use Java. The rest of us just don't have that many files to refactor when we change things. I don't really hate ide's, I get the appeal, and sometimes it works out useful. It&#x

Sometimes you catch people in low energy or bad moods. It doesn't excuse the behaviour but try not to take it personal. My trick is to write the wtf in pending review then go and look later in the day if it's still valid. Often I

Everyone always forgets Yemen. Why does everyone forget Yemen? Is it because it's the Saudis again? Or is it because Obama did it? Or because Trump continued it? Or is it because Biden said he would end it but didn't? https:/

I don't generally make a habit of basing my software development lifecycle methodologies on the lowest common denominator engineering org. Some shops ship value to customers with tests and metrics every day.

Missing the point: That code in 2005 was better in every way. Context: just learning loopback API framework. What a steaming pile of overengineered garbage.
