I guess the only problem with a private company instead of a governmental regulatory agency ensuring product safety is that the risk will mostly be born by the poor. Anyone unable to purchase a product tested by a private company with a go

Java seems to have been dying for quite a long time, if you believe the hype. I think I saw the first "Java is Dead," headline in 2002. Frankly, I doubt the language is taking a dirt nap any time soon.

In the United States, maternity leave is rarely generous, and only kind of mandated. There are many, many loopholes and exceptions.

There are still questions about nature vs nurture. There are lots of social pressures to be a certain kind of woman, a certain kind of mom, etc. I'm not sure any of her examples prove that things are biologically this way, just that the

The assumption of whiteness does NOT make you a racist, any more than the assumption of Japanese-ness makes a person living in Japan a racist. This is not the behavior the author is calling out as racist.

Thanks for the condescension. The author states in the last paragraph that he is referring to the Americans who make that argument. Perhaps that was not clear to you, but it was clear to me.

That's a non-sequitur. In the context of racial appearance of drawn characters, and the incorrect attribution of race based on the viewers biases, it's an appropriate, if somewhat incendiary, term. If someone counters that Japanese definit

It's not racist as in kkk-style, overt hatred of another race, it's more like culture-blindness, or ignorance, or a misplaced belief that one's culture is dominant in an area where it is not.

This is all good, but if you have to go $220k in debt to learn about stuff, that's ridiculous. There are ways to learn and grow outside of academia, and until the costs become reasonable again, I don't pooh-pooh anyone who decides to learn
