I think you've misread the article. You have worked hard, which is great. Other people have also worked hard, but they started later and had fewer opportunities in this field. Does this mean you should feel guilty? No. It means that yo

The tone can be off-putting, but it comes from being treated like dirt by snotty kids who think that their good fortune == inherent superiority.

I agree that the project is awesome, but without those who criticize and analyze, no thought gets put into how to make the world better. Note: there is no "fault." There are built-in injustices in society that are not due to some inherent

Please don't miss the point: you had the opportunity, as did many of your middle class peers, to discover your aptitude for computers at an early age. This is not an opportunity afforded to children in low income homes. You are not requi

This isn't new, and has little to do with diversity programs. Frankly, it's not the unqualified poor minority students keeping you out, it's the unqualified wealthy legacy students. That group is almost certain to gain admittance to a pre

That's because you are not a minority, and of course you don't see it on a daily basis. Out of curiosity, what sort of racism have you experienced?

That is not an accurate characterization of how the institutions themselves see poor whites. You may find some outspoken idiot students who hold these beliefs, but you'll find outspoken idiots who think lots of foolish things.

I don't buy that argument. In my opinion, the more talented developers there are, the fewer bad ones will be able to remain in the industry. I don't see the market being glutted by great developers under any circumstances. Artificial li

I'm not being sarcastic at all. I know several people who would make excellent developers, but they went into teaching, or consulting, or marketing, or whatever. The pay is either equivalent or less, but the status for those positions is
