You can just think of objects as containers, if you have a bunch of functions that are related, but don't need to hold a specific "state" around them, then the class is essentially just a grouping (i.e. classes that just hold static methods

Below are just some basic points, I figured I'd try to put some info in the comment rather than linking to a resource. This is by no means comprehensive, just what I've learned from working at companies so far that have larger-scale apps -

Its a well structured, well thought out language that somewhat feels like an extension of a lower level language, like C. Generally, companies working on big projects want developers who are comfortable with a wide variety of programming co

A lot of recruiters are idiots, for one, and two, their main skill is in manipulating people, i.e. sales. The shady ones will always do what they can to get a leg up, including bad mouthing companies that they are not representing, I've had

companies who rely on web ad postings to recruit probably don't have the sharpest management. I think this may be just more a result of the fact that everyone is trying to jump on the bandwagon again and there are some clueless companies th

You shouldn't think that you can't get a job without a degree that pays better than what you make now as I bet you can, unless you live in a really small market where there is little demand for developers. I know this from first-hand experi

Agreed, communication skills are important, trying to avoid communication with others about work-related topics, where they may need your input, is bound to get you labeled as "that guy" where people basically think you're a one-dimensional

My point is that the number of people with engineering degrees in the U.S. is not equivalent to the number of qualified, experienced software developers. As many people work in software development who do not hold a computer science-specifi

Why not get a job as a programmer for a company directly? You'll learn more this way. Freelancing is generally easier once you have more experience under your belt

just a word of advice, if you're on an H-1B, you probably don't want to rely on a startup for your job so maybe this is a wakeup call. You would ideally want to work for a more established, larger company to where you can have some assuranc

If you believe H-1B's are there to address a "talent shortage" I have a bridge to sell you. Tech companies use them to lower costs and help to suppress the wages of American workers. That said, makecheck is right, in that an employer is spo
