My one big question about nix is how the hell do I find out those options? Like cool, I know I need to set the config to some specific value based on arch wiki, but how do I read the nix package to find out what config "key" to us

I'm an Australian working for a US big tech company, the culture thing is interesting to me. What I see from corp and the US side very much matches the "Americans tend to be enthusiastic about their company mission - in the extrem

Yeah, YTM isn't a _completely_ separate service. It's just a different frontend to YouTube. If you search for one of those "official" music label uploaded songs on youtube, you'll get the exact same video ID as you

This is so weird. You just don't connect it to the internet. It's that simple. No need for "dumb TVs" to return. Smart TVs are just dumb TVs with extra stuff. I'll care about this when they start embedding 5G SIMs s

Not a great writeup. The IPv6 Cat thing is tortured and the article feels meandering and mostly pointless. Is the intended audience policy makers?

Where I work there is almost nobody with any IPv6 experience and certainly nobody willing to come forth and push for adoption. We just push the increasing cost of NAT gateways etc onto our customers.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Curtis LeMay was far from insane, to write off the thoughts of those who influenced early nuclear doctrine as insane doesn't do the topic justice. The book Command & Control is a grea

Yeah just the PDNS docs. They're excellent. I'll admit my personal setup isn't particularly complex, but I'm not sure how much more complex it can get. I've just got an authoritative server for `lan.` and two second

Really? Imagine, if you will, the following scenario: I have a wireguard endpoint on my home router. The home router uses a residential ISP connection and I don't want to pay $10/mo for a static IP because my ISP is cheeky and exp

I've been very pleased with powerdns for my self hosted internal DNS services. It implements basically everything you want for even the most esoteric DNS setups, and IMO, quite sanely.

God that's one of the most pessimistic views of humanity I've seen on the web, and I'm pretty pessimistic. Developed nations have a 99.2% literacy rate per wikipedia. 69% of OECD students meet "level 2" mathematical

How often don't you have bash on a debian/ubuntu system though? #!/bin/bash and away you go. Every workplace I've been that uses debian just goes for bash in the shebang.

The requirement is a bit garbage. Most other countries manage to run their rail networks effectively without having their trains blast the horn at every crossing. When they do, it's typically two short tones, not the way the US does it
