It's ironic that Mr. Rad went to such great lengths to keep his friend Mr. Mateen from facing the consequences of his behavior for so long. Because by putting his friend above his company, he ended up hurting both even more. If Rad had

(I've actually been upvoting most of this conversation!) I think we're actually on the same page -- I don't think personal attacks help at all. The whole point of Hacker News is to have interesting discussions, but personal a

I agree on the point that allegations aren't true 100% of the time. And it is tragic when someone's reputation is irreparably tarnished as a result of a false accusation. But it's important to keep in mind that the vast major

The reason that I downvote most (not all!) of those comments is: 1. They emphasize a culture of doubt about these accusations, which may discourage people in a situation like Ms. Wolfe's from stepping forward. On the other hand, the ac

Directly from the complaint: "Justin Mateen joined Tinder as Chief Marketing Officer, a position that made him Ms. Wolfe’s direct supervisor. Within two months after he became an employee, in November 2012, Mr. Mateen began pursuing a

So you're saying that Ms. Wolfe can accuse him of sending harassing messages, but IAC can't? Even if IAC has irrefutable evidence that it happened?

Before we all jump on the "he-said-she-said" bandwagon, keep in mind that IAC (Tinder's parent company) has confirmed that Mr. Mateen did send harassing messages to Ms. Wolfe: "Through that process, it has become clear t

Behavior like that is not acceptable for someone in a position of authority at a company no matter what the context. (It's not clear what Moghadam's specific role at Rap Genius was, but he did have a seat on the board of directors

The point I was making is that many of the planes in the boneyards are in working condition (assuming you gas them up and do some other trivial un-mothballing work). It's not like a car, where it can be driven until the wheels fall off

There's a healthy market for used planes. Allegiant is a great example. They fly slightly less fuel efficient MD-80s which can be bought at bargain prices from the legacy carriers (MD-80's are those narrow body jets with the engin
