No issues with choosing Java (used it for years), but I would argue that OO and reflection aren't great reasons for specifically choosing Java.

I'd argue the instinct to go native for desktop apps is no longer valid without taking other things into consideration--it depends entire on the type of app. There are compelling desktop choices besides native.

You don't really, though. You may , and you'd be better off if you did , but you can throw up a simplistic HTTP server without needing to do any of that.

Sounds like you need an authorization solution for specific aspects of the toolset. Is there a reason you can't lock down specific functionality (e.g., "Create New Project")?

The "focus on fitness" is more about what apps are immediately available by default. The biggest issues w/ smart watches are battery life and hackability. For hackability there aren't a lot of mass-produced options. For

There's CSV all over the place. Tables of data are best represented with... well, tables of data. For data that's not nested it's a perfectly acceptable format. Importing well-formed (and there's the rub) is trivial and

    1) Do I/the team know it well enough to be productive? 2) Does it suit the nature of the problem? 3) Does it have a large enough ecosystem to address my/our needs? 4) If it doesn't, do I/does the team have enough time to

In what way does that take you out of the running for jobs, though? In my experience there's nothing about a startup failure that indicates a candidate isn't suited for a development position.

Impossible to say w/o knowing more. This is a light time for hiring, as you state: lots of people are on vacation. While people do look for specific buzzwords, the better ones realize that you can teach anybody a framework and it'
