I had to write a little VB to maintain a legacy codebase at my first job. VB is long before my time, but at least from my perspective at that time, it was just a gross language to me. Who on Earth would rather have to end a function block b

I asked this in a similar thread a couple of weeks ago, but I feel like the sentiment is a lot more pessimistic today than it was then. Anyway, I've been holding way too much cash for the last two years in anticipation of a recession.

I've only been holding out since ~2017, but I definitely see your point. I know I'm probably being irrational by continuing to hold out, and I'm suffering a bit from the sunk cost fallacy. I guess I'm irrationally avoidi

To perform better, do you think buying in now when you're already sitting on cash would be a smart move? Assuming a recession hits in the next two years, and I'm able to invest at a considerable discount, wouldn't it be bette

I'm in this boat. I've had too much cash sitting in a money market account for a couple of years in anticipation of a recession. I feel like the corporate tax cuts might have kicked the can down the road a little. It's a weir

This would have appealed to me before building a rather large side project with Google Cloud's proprietary Firestore database. There are loads of drawbacks that slowly become apparent the more I build and the deeper I dig myself into t

I saw a fascinating interview with Kevin Hines, a guy who attempted suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge, and lived. He said he immediately regretted it after he jumped. It seems like there is something about there being no turning

I don't feel like my ability to interface with the computer is a major bottleneck for me. If I'm writing code, for example, my typing speed is really not a factor. Even typing this very short comment, I paused several times to thi

tl;dr: parseInt takes an optional second argument, the radix. It defaults to 10 (so the number is parsed in base 10). Since map() passes in each item in the array as the first argument, and the index as the second, you're parsing each

I'd argue that having the function process.isWindows() would be a bad design. You'd then need to add process.isMacOS(), process.isLinux(), etc. You can do a switch statement on process.platform.
