That’s interesting to hear! Usually game jam culture is very receptive towards themes. What did you find didn’t work?

I 100% agree, although I feel like I get better value for my polish effort using a different toolset.

I think the car culture has a lot to do with it too. I remember seeing the train be the “default” mode of transit for a family of five in Japan and the effects that gave to real estate and government spending.

I love the productivity Unity brings, but sometimes I feel like making a game in the engine requires extra polish as I need to make sure the game has character and not “a Unity game”.

Most of the jobs I have worked at required a desktop workstation running Windows 10. While perhaps not a tablet, I’d love to have the sort of work where doing everything over SSH would be possible.

As I grew into the role of a young adult, I experimented and arranged school and/of work to be later in the day. Why not, especially as a “lazy” student, right? Funny enough, the quality of my work increased and I got better grades. I

I've seen a lot of hobbyist/indie game developers use the tool, although not exclusively. It plays nice with Unity and Unreal, you can always count on it being there since it's free and supported on Mac/Windows/Linu

As much as I’d likely end up using some sort of scripting language for something like this, being able to do it via command line is always lovely.

If I wanted to write a program with @nogc, how much of a QoL hit would I take? Is most of the standard library usable without garbage collection, or is it more hit-or-miss?

I'm not 100% sure, but looking at the documentation, you can manually use/tweak the three.js objects underneath A-Frame. [1] They seem to discourage it though, or, it seems like they'd rather you use the markup implementation

Cool demo! I liked the little character model a lot. Thanks for taking the time to write this! Is it hard to tweak the lighting model in A-Frame? I like the accessibility the library brings, and I know you were going for a particular lowpol

Even if I had to tune for low-end hardware, I’d love to own and hack around on a simple device with this sort of OS.

It's also raytraced/marched too, right? Reducing the resolution where possible might help with performance. I'm not sure if there's an easy way to do that via ShaderToy though.

I really admire the value this piece has as a composition. Or, the clouds, rings, and water terrain individually work as cool demoscene shaders, but flipping them on/off depending where the camera is gives it a great sense of scale.

I’m really surprised you’re being downvoted, even though I’m not quite sure you think art doesn’t have value. The value I receive from seeing a movie with a friend or playing a video game usually exceeds the dollars I spent for the entertai

Filters have achcieved similar results, but not quite with the same technique! Or, this algorithm wasn’t intended for real-time processing and creates an adjacency graph of similar pixels. Once it’s done that, it will try to fit/optimi

I think the comments about labour supply with respect maternal grandparents are a really interesting note. Or, I can imagine your upbringing would shape a lot of our subtle inclinations and decisions with regard to things.

20 years ago I used JavaScript to make cute Neopets pages, but today I get asked about how to use it for scalable web services in job interviews. That’s kind of crazy to me! It’d be like if Google made a JIT for LOGO and we all went nuts bl

I remember DX10 required an upgrade to Windows Vista at the time. Does the DX10/11 support here mean that we have a non-proprietary way of running those games? It'd be great not to have as much vendor lock-in for this kind of stuf
