I'd like to add that for different parts of your application, or website, it's ok to use different services. For example, a large majority of tech startups have a WordPress blog that is totally separate from their actual web application. In

Have you been to the Alamo Draft House in Austin, TX? I can no longer watch movies in any other theatre (and I live in San Francisco now, so this means I don't watch movies outside of my home). They have solved all of the problems you menti

I've spent much of my professional career thinking about this concept, because I've experienced it so often, but more out of frustration for my peers who DON'T seem to work this way. There is nothing better than the feeling of clicking with

I am continually baffled, on almost a daily basis, that people continue to argue extremes. The secret to most things in life is balance. A balance between having a great product that solves problems, and good design, is the key. Sure, you c

I'm sorry, but Joshua Topolsky is turning this into class warfare on his own. I can understand how one might make the jump to class warfare when comparing a Honda and Mercedes in a different context, but in this case the reviewer was talkin

I'm curious if anyone else is seeing a trend of passive aggressive, or light hearted, "trolling" on social networks with family and friends. For example, on Facebook, a troll might play out like this: Sarah posts "Having the worst day ever,

I'm surprised at the lack of comments about Yammer. I used to think it would be a product I'd NEVER use, but for a recent year long project I used it with a team of around 20 others. The result was pretty awesome. Emails were rarely sent/re

Interesting you mention community colleges. We beta tested Classhive (similar product that no longer exists) at a large public university, a medium sized private college, and a medium sized community college. When we spoke with teachers and

I headed up the team behind a similar project a few years ago called Classhive (www.classhive.com). The UI we built for the project is eerily similar to CourseKit, and we faced a lot of the same difficulties mentioned in this thread to get

I came to say exactly this. If you're passionate about what your startup is doing, it seems to me it should be pretty easy to put a few days effort into building out a better "coming soon" website. With frameworks like Bootstrap ( http://tw

While I 100% support that idea (because it's awesome), I somehow doubt the mainstream would use something like this. If you don't believe me, go explain this to your parents or someone who doesn't read tech blogs, and let us know how that c

Exactly what I came here to post. There is a huge difference between smart spec work and the 99 designs marketplace spec work. That said, I really don't see where the problem is in the design ecosystem right now. Talented designers are not

I've overheard lots of discussion from iOS developers lately on this becoming a new trend. As certain apps increase in complexity the old Facebook home screen style becomes much less scalable, and this new method seems to be the answer. My
