The legal rights of a corporation should rapidly decrease as it gains market power. My neighborhood bar should be allowed to 86 me for just about anything, but Madison Square Garden Entertainment, Ticketmaster, and Live Nation should not. S

In 20 years some of us are going to be telling stories like this at the dinner table as our grandkids are turning pale and absolutely mortified that grandpa just referred to another human being as “a BIPOC”.

The folks on this side of the argument believe that money is speech. Therefore using money to suppress opponent’s speech is itself an expression of free speech. I don’t agree; this is a steelman argument

I was extremely impressed by Uniqlo’s self checkout recently in New York City. You dump all your stuff into a bin and it displays the total price. You then pay and leave. I assume this means every item has a serialized RFID tag embedded som

…or not raise prices. I think the root cause of our broken economy is that way too much of gross margin has been flowing to owners/capital instead of workers.

This is painful to read because I'm guilty of it. I left an SGI Onyx, a Sun Ultra 80, a Sun Ultra 1E, and a Sun A1000 JBOD in the basement of a house I was renting in 2003 because I couldn't be bothered to hump the gear up a fligh

Can you elaborate? I installed my nest years ago without a common wire and it…seems to work but I have horrendous gas bills and the system cycles often, but I attributed both of these to the poor insulation of my 120 year old building.

I wonder who owns the alfalfa farms because doing business in Utah is wild. There is absolutely no separation between business, government, and the church. It's like a single, hyper-efficient, hybrid organization. I spent a week there

One of the most un-intuitive rules of leadership is that you have to make yourself replaceable. My bosses all know because I always tell them, “if I get hit by a bus, put A in charge of X, promote B to Y, give C to Z”. On every major projec

It’s great how much open source infrastructure software has come out of FAANG in the past decade. Between Kubernetes, react, Kafka, etc it’s wild how much of my tech stack is open source software developed by people at large tech companies.
