No, that is not how taxes work. You do not get to deduct a dollar from your tax obligation for every dollar you donate. You only deduct the percentage dictated by your tax bracket. So assuming he's in the 39.6% tax bracket his tax ob

It was something I wrote in 2003, before git was a thing. I'd grown up futzing with code in the 80's (AppleBASIC, a bit of assembler). Turbo Pascal, ANSI C, in the early 90's. I'd started crunching through Ivor Horton&

That last paragraph is brilliant and I'm going to borrow it to use in conversations with my friends and family who have been asking me about Alex's climb and about free soloing.

Especially so soon after Ueli Steck's death. I first heard about Alex's feat from FB, when I opened it up and saw "Alex Honnold" in the trending stories thing. I said out loud "oh god, no"...and then saw the

I didn't stop reading, I checked out on her argument. What the author was saying was compelling up to the point she admitted she couldn't code. Non-code contributions have value, however if you don't have the engineering unde

I checked out at "I am not yet a programmer." If the author had spent the time required to write this blog post (and all the others) learning to code...Shazam, they'd be a programmer. Maybe a few less replays of The Little M

+1 for Freshdesk. Came over from Zendesk and at the time at least it was (much) lower cost and worked better for our small biz. Great API as well with good docs.

The move from calling illegal aliens to illegal immigrants (or undocumented workers, or whatever) creates so much confusion. I don't know a single person, and I know a good number of Trump voters, who is opposed to legal immigration.

It's important to not confuse liberals with leftists. My liberal friends have remained (for the most part) fairly objective and open to dialogue. My friends who identify as leftists...not so much.

Pretty sure #1 isn't accurate. I wasn't required to forward slip (or side slip, for that matter) on my FAA checkride nor have I been required to do so during any biennial flight review. Edit: I'm dead wrong. :)
