Isn't that what you would expect in a private key encryption system? (in contrast to a public key encryption system like most of us are used to using)

I don't know if this is the reason but historically the default blue on PCs in text mode has been unreadable on a black background. Does windows terminal use the same colors?

It seems to me a likely use of this new AI would be to use it to invent human brain augmentation -- first for expanded mental ability then for faster communication. The Borg may be inevitable.

Have you ever tried lzma/lzma2 with the hc3 (hash chain) match finder instead of the default (bt3 or bt4) match finder? I've found this to be a really good middle ground between gz/deflate and lzma2 with default settings.

I'm a little wary of those cheap hex keys -- I've been burned a few times by them stripping out a hex head when the key was just a little loose. I know I should invest in some quality hex keys, but you are right -- it's hard

The zinus bedframe I bought came with a mini ratcheting wrench instead of a flat wrench. The wrench is just the right size to fit hex shank screwdriver bits, and so I've used it many times when I couldn't find my screwdriver or I

I don't have an example handy, but I disagree that Wikipedia is about the citations. It _should_ be about the citations, but I often come across pages (usually medical/health related) that have citations where the Wikipedia page

> A downward-growing stack is more intuitive. To access items on a downward-growing stack, you use positive offsets; for instance, sp+0x10 could be the second stack-passed argument to a function. For an upward-growing stack, you have to

Something I've been curious about for a long time: I grew up using an IBM 8513 VGA monitor connected to a PS/2. That's the mental model I use when thinking about color; to my brain, the default grey color (value 7) is "

Android phones toyed with the navigation ball for a little while, but it took a lot of rolls of the thumb to get a small movement on the screen -- it should have felt like a trackball, but ended up being useless compared to flicking the tou

That is a good introduction to what makes pharo appealing. It sounds a lot like Smalltalk though. Do you know of a similar page that highlights the differences between pharo and Smalltalk?

Typically in Ruby (which is heavily Smalltalk-influenced) we do ad-hoc type annotations anyway and call it documentation. So you've got the camp that favors type annotations for various reasons and the camp that is opposed. There is a

I agree with your logic, though a paranoid person might point out that they don't need access to telegram's servers; access to the app store or to automatic OS updates would be enough.

End-to-end encrypted by default doesn't mean much if you don't trust the third party providing the software that does the encryption. One automatic app update can enable leaking of encrypted communication.

9600bps is 1200cps which is plenty for remote echo to keep up with even a fast typist; I think that has a lot to do with why it feels snappy. Some web pages can't keep up with a moderately fast typist, even though it's all rendere

I'm not sure whether to find it amusing or concerning that 20MB now qualifies as a reasonable size for an email client. My first PC that ran Linux had only 8MB of RAM and an 850MB disk, and it felt like a lot at the time.
