Is it just to benefit dealers, or is there a provision in WV law for independent repairers to gain access to the ECU updates?
I agree this smells of being anti-competitive against any manufacturer lacking in brick-and-mortar dealerships (e.g. Tesla).
- josephcsible 5y agoThe bill specifically uses the language "new motor vehicle dealer". So no, this isn't even a win for right-to-repair. It's just the rent-seeking dealer lobby looking to stop themselves from being cut out as the middlemen.
