A net migration out of California does not mean an increase in available housing. There are a lot of families (adults+kids) where the children grew up and then can’t afford a home in California and left the state. A household of 4 then beco

If either circuit had arc fault or ground fault (or both) it would trip if you tried drawing power from both. Which is going to include pretty much any plug outside or in a garage in the past 30 years.

I received an 8 channel ESP32 board today that I’m planning to use to replace the failed ~25 year old control board that failed in my hot tub.

I’ve been considering this for my home. I have solar already but with an EV my usage exceeds my generation. Second hand panels like this ones in this article are cheap. I could get a set of those and sting them into an EcoFlow Ultra which h

It’s a classic make vs buy decision. What base platform is offered by GM/Toyota/Kia/etc? There are some examples where car makers (both EV and ICE) will sell components to competitors but in general this is pretty rare. Most

No way any regulated industry is going to just trust some AI to write the code. Imagine trying to get a medical device through FDA approval with firmware written by a bot.

As you pointed out they don’t provide a link to a well know betting site and they give users the option to hide the odds. What more do you want? Should Apple maps not allow you to route to a liquor store? Is the ability to do so enabling al

I’ve never placed a bet on a game but I enjoy knowing the odds because it gives me some idea of who’s expected to win and by how much. Don’t try to make gambling addition apples problem.

IMO the lack of fumes/exhaust is my favorite part of owning an EV. Sure there are some downsides with EVs (more expensive to buy, less range, lack of public charging infrastructure) but those don’t impact me and I’d gladly take the ne

Cars made in the 40s and 50s were very unreliable, required significantly more maintenance than modern cars. You had to service things like breaker points, batteries and carburetors every few thousand miles. Most modern cars can go 10,000 m

J1772 also lacks a neutral conductor. The 3rd largeish pin you see in the plug is actually a ground connector. Its longer so that its first to make last to break which is a requirement for most ground pins. I assume both J1772 and NACS use

Except this DIY project could kill someone if it malfunctions. There are several inadequate parts of this design that make it a safety risk beyond the fire risk.

Getting rid of ICE was the #1 factor when I bought an EV. No stinky gas fumes in my garage, no more trips to a gas station to fill up. Worth the premium IMO. ~300 mile range, charge time, and charger network hasn’t been a problem yet.

My commute costs going into the office everyday for a year are far more than $1000/year. I estimate it’s about $4k/year and that’s with taking public transit & biking. Those commute costs aren’t covered by my employer. I’d gla

Who cares if a car is only utilized 10% of the time. At 10% use the car is going to last an average of 20 years. Use it 90% of the time and it’s gonna get junked in 1-2 years.

I think if there was large scale adoption of PoE to power stuff outside of network equipment the regs would eventually catch up and it would have similar requirements line voltage wiring. 100W is more than enough to start a fire. 100W at 10

A 48V dc circuit over a 12 AWG wire would provide less than 1/2 the wattage (power) available in a typical 120V AC circuit. You’re still going to need some circuits that can deliver 1500W to power appliances, space heaters, window AC,

CCS current spec/design can deliver up to 350kW (although few if any cars can take advantage of that today). NACS claims it can provide up to 1MW (1000A @ 1000V). I think it will be a while before we see cars able to charge anywhere ne
