If Reddit had years of runway in an easy money macro climate and still can’t achieve profitability. How’s a startup/clone supposed to get up and running today?

An untrusted finger can just switch the main breaker or an untrusted hammer can just smash the meter. There’s far easier ways to be destructive if you have physical access to the meter, which by default everyone is going to have because met

If the problem is zoning that’s blocking density then why is the density of Cupertino (5,300/sq mile) almost double that of Houston (3000/sq mile)? Houston is the example of why cities need zoning regs. No one wants to buy a home

Other car manufacturers told tesla to pound sand because the conditions of using any of the “open” tesla patents meant you had to forfeit any patent claims against tesla. Which isn’t really sharing your patents, it’s just a negotiation/

Charging at home is typically cheaper. Around 1/2 to 1/3 of the cost of a public charger. There are also some free public chargers but they are typically slower charge around 6kW and are limited to an hour or 2.

About 50 cents per kWh at something like a supercharger. Most EVs get around 3 miles per kWh. So 300 miles of charging is about 100 kWh or $50.

Maintaining the temp inside the car is going to pull at most a couple kw. So 2 hours with the heat or AC on even in a very severe climate is going to consume <5kWh. Which translates to a loss of 15 miles in range. If you got stuck overni

If you pay for earthquake insurance, and then an earthquake destroys your house. Should you not get to keep your house after insurance pays out to fix it?

The SF bay area alone added over 500k more jobs than housing over the last decade. And it’s not like the area was known for having ample housing before that.

Once furnace and water heaters are electric I really don’t see how maintaining gas infrastructure stays economic for PG&E. I guess they can keep raising minimum monthly charges so you’ll end up paying even if you use no gas.

This is the opposite of my existence. I love my rheem heat pump water heater. Costs me less than old gas water heater. I heat to 140 and use a mixing valve to have safe temp at 120. I’ve never run out of hot water.

Why would it cost $2000 to register an EV? 12,000 miles/year at ~30 MPG is 400 gallons of gas. At $.50/gal tax that’s $200/yr in tax revenue the state would need to make up in additional EV registration fees.

Lots of meters use bus bar to the panel that wouldn’t fit a ferrite. Also the lack of a listing would make using that ferrite a violation anywhere that observes NFPA70 (NEC). Although I don’t personally see a risk in adding one.

IMO it’s less about the voltage and more about the wattage. A modern PoE spec supporting wattages ~100W is more than enough to start a fire. Currently there is a gap in the electric code (NFPA70) as it doesn’t really address this risk in th
