For those who might not know this, you can stream the audio from one mac to another. http://www.macgeekery.com/tips/configuration/playing_live_au... I use it to move music streams to the other computers in the house.

I have three paid apps ($1,$1,$5) and a couple more free ones. I average around $200/month.

This. And what goes along with it: Not pushing everyone to the same end. For example, learning math has many valuable aspects. However, learning advanced math is not valuable for everyone. In fact, it becomes detrimental to the student w

Writing (and finishing) a book is a lot of work. I always admired people who did it (regardless of the final quality) because I thought I could never do one myself. Now I've written several. And now back to my software projects.

I've talked to an agent about that. In Washington State, she said a group plan v. individual would not make much difference. At least not enough to warrant they additional paperwork and/or insurance company switch.

I have my family on a $10,000 deductible per person ($30,000 for family). That still costs over $500/month. Unless you have cancer, heart surgery, or some other major thing, and are in good health you'll save far more over buying a lower d

I think Apple will be happy to have all the music subscription apps go away. They bought lala.com and I expect them to have an iTunes subscription service before long.

Sure, not everything can be a web app, but a lot of the subscription world can easily be ported to web app, since the content will likely be delivered in HTML.

That is one of Apple's requirements. Whatever you sell somewhere else, it has to be the same price or cheaper at Apple. You cannot charge more on iOS to compensate for Apple's 30% cut (which I think is rather high for subscriptions).

I wonder how much content will end up simply as web apps and web sites and then it won't matter what platform the end user chooses. I've changed my focus from iOS to web because of Apple's policies.

They are trying to force content producers to work exclusively with Apple. I can up the cost to the end user _as long as I stay only with Apple_. Once I move my product to a second competing device, then it really hurts profit because the

It all comes down to what you want long term and how success is measured. My wife and I seek long-term quality relationships with our children. Relationships are based on common value systems, regardless of what those values are. (link to

Likely a Mac related problem. I have no trouble with VLC on my Windows machine nor on my work iMac. However, the home iMac has issues. In my administrator account on the machine the video is fine, but in my wife's non-privileged account t

It depends on the value of the book, and the author, and the content. A very famous author is more akin to a best selling band. The can afford to charge less because they can make up for it through volume. I've written several books, and t

As programmers, our typical complaints are for sites that bog us down in common (expert's exchange, stackoverflow scrapers, etc.). What I found interesting: I was doing a search on something I normally have no interest in (a sewing machine

A lot of the body smells depends on diet. If a person eats foods that make them smell (and the foods can depend on the person) then you get smelly. If you know what those foods are and you avoid them, you decrease the smells your body pro

The issue of liquidity is important. One aspect that affects all of us is the borrowing of money. The easy borrowing of money drives the price up for that which it is borrowed. Housing would be more affordable if one needed to save a grea
