I hope they aren’t all realising zero isn’t zero somewhere as well. I could really do without that headache today.

If you want a steamer, look at psychotherapy. That makes philosophy look sane because no one tries to apply it.

Mostly holding on still. Apple just bumped the hype a little more and gave it a few more months despite MSFT’s inherent ability to shaft everything they touch. I moved about 50% of my capital back into ETFs though before WWDC in case they d

I’m a miserable cynic at a much higher level. This is top level grifting. And I’ve made a shit ton of money out of it. That’s as far as reality goes.

They're bloody awful and should be taken outside and shot. Even the expensive 3M ones. First they are unreliable and wear out. Secondly they melt when you inevitably screw up. Thirdly there isn't a ground plane so it's basica

Is there a decent tutorial or book on getting over the hill? I can do some basic stuff in it but it's just not catching like other languages do.

Similar thing happened to me in the 80s. I learned never to take anything of value into school. My kids learned the same thing in the same way.

You can decline this at any age. What can they do? Well turns out at that point they can only threaten to or apply violence or confiscate it until you hand over the details, none of which are "reasonable in all circumstances" as q

I've seen this before. To quote a barrister friend of mine, regardless of the law, it mostly depends on how big a stick the person having their device confiscated wields. The stick in this case is connections, parents etc. They rely pu

This article is mostly fluff. There's garbage in encyclopaedias as well and little possibility of finding errata. It also teaches the kids that you should trust one canonical source of information, which is bad. Teach your kids critica

At this rate of headlines, The Grauniad will be shutting their app and web servers down shortly and moving back to movable type and newspaper boys covered in soot. My phone helps gets me to places I can go and touch things. And take photos

Well the article promotes an extremist position to solve a sub-issue which is the problem. It sells clicks. Then again it's The Grauniad so I expect nothing less. It's less than objective these days.

Well I should say lack of variety. Games are healthy, communications are healthy, education is healthy. Too much of any of those at the sacrifice of any other is not.

No that’s basically the law. What is extremism is depriving them of what is an essential tool in these times. Teach don’t preach.

As a parent of three I’d suggest that it’s probably the best to teach them to use them as tools not entertainment. As I quoted elsewhere, any extremist or reductionist position makes things worse for them.
