This used to bother me before, but then I realized, "this is why I get paid the big bucks". Now, I see my "unreasonable" requests as a sign of how much I've progressed in my field, even relative to some of my peers,

Part of the issue here is most people do not know how to actually attack a problem together in a non personal way. What I've noticed is one of the following issues: Can't accept cristicism of their solution. Too much ego. Don'

As someone with disorganized thinking, I'll counter with this. Documentation and clearer writing is the antidote. If the people around you can't do either, it's time to switch teams.

I personally like this rule of thumb, if a function is hard to test, it's time to simplify some code.

The pendulum can swing too far the other way as well. All I ask for is working with an up to date language and frameworks.

I like the idea of UBI, but don't see it working. Think about it this way, whenever the government increases grants for schools, the schools just end up raising prices. I think the same will apply here. Landlords might be more compelle

What would kill me the most wouldn't be the lower salary, it would be working at a company that treats tech as an expense to be minimised, where non-technical people are calling the shots, working on 10 year old tech with no plans of u

People should live within their means. That means not spending so much of their income that being unemployed for a few months threatens their entire lifestyle.

The Americans dream is to live in debt. It's normal and even expected for you to live at the edge of (or even beyond) your means.

Yeah, I've started to notice this in a lot of the internet, from articles to videos to podcasts. It feels like they are all selling me something I don't want, ideology, outrage, consumerism. It's getting harder to find inform

Yes, before I got a Mac, I had Windows and the touchpads were ....meh. I could see some value in a touchscreen. Now that I've experience a Mac trackpad, I see no use for a touchscreen. The trackpad on Mac is amazing.

I had the Surface Laptop and before I bought it, I thought I would be using the touchscreen often. Turns out, I rarely used the touchscreen and only used it under 1 scenario, reading long form content. Best way I can describe it is that I f

I used to go to Medium because of the high quality articles on tech and programming on how to do things. Now it's just low quality SEO/self-promotion garbage. I've since long stopped using it and can very easily see using som

I wonder if MS can query and see the pain of people just searching for the Google Chrome download link, downloading it, closing Edge and never opening it ever again.

I think enough people will get sick enough of the ads that they will be willing to pay a few bucks a month to avoid it.

I've been lucky to be working remotely, but if I ever go back into the office, I'll be bringing my own gear just like you. Recently, I've been gasp paying for software. Open source and free tools have come a very long way,

Not sure what you define as mid market, but for me, I'll go up in price point until I find something that fits me well. The issue with the cheaper and mid market clothing tends to be the fit. If I have to get a tailor, I'd rather

To each their own. I've been wearing a mid layer fleece from a big outdoor brand for about 8 years now. Ironically, it was company swag that I got for free and is actually what got me into buying more expensive pieces of clothing. No

Buying fewer more expensive items of clothing > buying more items at a much cheaper price point. I've noticed this the most with outdoorsy equipment, like my pair of wool socks (Darn Tough). They are 3x more expensive that cotton, b

Ah yes the whole "we are going to reinvent this", when "this" has taken decades and 100s of millions of dollars to build. I appreciate the efforts, but good luck.
