I think it's basically just the equivalent of select(2)? Once upon a time, all network servers were written this way. They were pretty fast, too.

The word "liberal" in the US is used in a way unlike anywhere else. Classic liberalism, as the term is used everywhere else, is embodied by publications like eg The Economist.

I agree with everything in that link, but it's not a case for socialism. That's because Canada isn't particularly socialist, despite what both right-wing and left-wing Americans claim. Canada was not founded by religious extr

Agreed, and a good example of this is implementing search. You can define a view on top of your searchable entities that includes the urls to the entities, as well as searchable metadata (entity descriptions or whatever). So when you add ne

Yes, I've said exactly this a bunch of times. My advice to young programmers is always this: work for a while in a city with high salaries and lots of demand, then after some years when you are experienced and high value (genuinely so)

Yes, but considering eg the shitshow down south or in Quebec, that is damning it with faint praise. The fact remains that BC has seven times the deaths of New Zealand. One thing BC has in its favour is a reasonably common-sense population t

I guess it depends on where you live. Eight hours exceeds the time from dawn to sunset for much of the year in northern latitudes. Also, the study doesn't say 16:8 doesn't have the same effects.

This is a good question. I work for a US company and travel down to good old Santa Clara county now and again (in non-pandemic times). I have a TN but it is a massive pain to re-apply when it expires. Is there some other way? I'm only

A lot of people here probably won't believe this, but Cisco Webex offers end to end encryption, but not by default. If you use it, you lose a bunch of features. But it is available, and Webex is immensely popular in the corporate world
