Some very interesting discussion[0] around the bot badge addition: > If you run bots on Mastodon, you can now opt-in to display a bot badge on your profile. This works with non-Mastodon software, too, if the ActivityPub actor is of the S

True. My environments are not the same. Most will call that a disadvantage. I rather like knowing about environments on various platforms and how my applications support them. Of course there are other, probably better, ways to approach tha

How have you found support between the platforms? I tend to agree with your thoughts here, and this article seems like nothing more than very minor personal taste notes, but I have only used iPhones for the past six years or so. What I have

I had a bit of concern about this as well when I moved off Gmail after 12 years. I did not import my mail in to my new service (ProtonMail) and can really only recall one or two times I’ve had to look at the Gmail archive in the past two ye

I use Nightly on OS X for web development work every day and don’t see anything like this. Including using multiple screens with scaling (although I almost never work on the battery). The one annoying issue that I do get is occasionally Dev

Ditto this. The article doesn’t say much of anything at all and makes giant jumps in logic based on a few quotes without full context. Honestly I have been somewhat impressed with Zuckerberg’s handling of this situation, at least in compari

This talks a lot about 5.5 and mentions that 5.6 is “due out soon”. The current release series is 5.7. How much of this is outdated and how much has stayed the same?

I used a self-hosted Piwik (Matomo) instance for analytics at my previous job for a few years. It worked fine for my basic needs and has a great API that I used for custom reports, but I wasn’t doing anything terribly complex. I recommend i

I don’t think GP was offering a comparison so much as a related item to check out. Why would you not recommend code that checks the hashed password against a local DB? See also the “pwned-passwords-django” process here: https://w

While that use case is certainly an example of a convenience, I don’t think it passes the “mission critical” bar. I can’t think of any way that emoji reactions would be mission critical unless they are part of an API that can be used for au

I use it regularly. The only real drawback is that the database has to be updated manually (e.g. from DropBox or wherever). Outside of that issue it has lots of features and config options and is generally easy to use.
