Oh, wow, thas was an incredible experience, thanks! In trying to explain it some way... the green was SO GREEN that it actually looked like it was flashing blue. By the way, is there any other similar experiment I could try?

Can you please elaborate a little bit more on the key similarities/differences/drawbacks between Dropbox and a home-hosted DAV server? Thanks

I read somewhere that a fingerprint couldn't replace a password, as they are different auth methods, and the fingerprint can't really replace the password. Does anybody know why? I searched the article but haven't been able t

Probably the fact that it is a very low-power laptop helps it run only with solar power. If it can't run on sun alone, I guess that it's not very useful at all.

Sorry man, you'd better start preparing. Its saliva causes infection in a large number of individuals, the marks last for 7-14 days[1], and itches as if your leg is on fire. The only remedy is to apply heat[2] and wait for your body to

I tried the oscillating fan stuff, and got bitten three times in a couple of hours. Guess there are some mosquitoes which can actually fly over a fan's currents. Local hint: in Spain, we are being invaded by the tiger mosquito[1], whic

Many geeks are too cynical and abrasive over the internet, but good people when you talk to them (or when you can hear them talking). This is the case for most of HN people, most geek websites, and Marco, too. What the heck, I can include m

I highly recommend everyone to listen to his latest atp.fm podcasts. I found it is easy to misinterpret Marco (as if he wanted to be a public person, ha) but after hearing from the guy, I can only applaud him. Just a bit from ATP #14: "I'm

I go through this process while running. I highly recommend everyone to jog/run for about 30-40 minutes every day, alone, wit no music. It performs a "defrag" of your brain and relieves most of the stress and worries.

Yes, in fact I use the first one (while true; sleep; ls) but I thought the second is more succint. Anyone interested can make a loop. Please notice that most of the snippets aren't meant to be copied & pasted, but rather analyzed and un

I have an honest question. Does it give them tactical advantage to redesign their site every year? Not that I'm against redesigns, in fact I think that they're getting better and better, but I'm curious whether they do this for the users or

But the remote host can limit your ServerAliveInterval, however most hosts don't close your session if there is something running. On our clusters this is the only working solution, and I tried both, trust me.

Open a shell on your public server, run ./bb.sh post, and that's it. You can now access your blog from your public URL.

It is theoretically easy, one would only have to add a parse_markdown() function which converts MD to HTML, there are many parsers out there. For me, after many years of making web pages, HTML is easier than Markdown.

That's nice to know, it seems that we have the "hard" configuration at the lab and it's a real pain. Backwards compatibility, you know. For my mini-cluster we use SMB and couldn't be happier.

Not trying to contradict you, just some explanations 1. I prefer 'psgrep' because it covers 99% of my use cases for pgrep (ps axuf | grep $NAME) 2. htop is very nice, come on! Would not let it running on the background for hours, but it's n
